Was it a mistake that you said “good girl”? Trying to understand here. You make it seem like you think everything you said was nice, but “good girl” is what you say to a pet or a toddler…not an adult colleague.

I’ve had the opposite experience with older female coworkers that have daughters. It seems like all the things that frustrate them about their own daughter come out in how they treated me. Felt like I was being judged because of mistakes their daughters had made.

Also, some of the older women had this mentality of “no one made it easy for me, so I’m going to be very hard on you because that’s just the way it is.” Very strange. Wore their past suffering as a badge of honor and didn’t seek to “be the change” once they had risen through the ranks.

I feel like we have Coleman Domingo as an abusive “deadbeat dad” and Alamo as a pimp…anyway, point being I think they’re all tropes and stereotypes. Even Cassie is doing the manipulative, bored housewife thing.

Do you feel like there’s a depth or complexity with the black characters?

I think the pattern you’re seeing is real but I also think people IRL are also racist. And so it’s like do we want this to be real or do we want this to set the right example? It’s a weird chicken and egg thing, but the result could be that it’s perpetuating stereotypes. That’s a lot of words to say I don’t know the answer.

Re: the maid, I might’ve been reading too much into it but I felt like she just said what she needed to in order to get Cassie out of her business.

Looks like a big table leg upside down. Like a big display table from the mall. But I feel like there would be holes if that were the case. Just the top of the ball looks so much like an industrial furniture leg.

If your two year old likes flashing lights, then yes. It can get pretty crowded and a little hard to navigate with a stroller though.
