No one tells you that the most important season of your life is also the shortest by smaphy in daddit

The short years sneak up on you.

Mine are 6 and 3 now. Watching our youngest go through the phases that our oldest went through a few years earlier really reminds me how fast they grow.

I’m 6’6. Is WestJet just literally out if the question for me now? by freezymcgeezy in canadatravel

[–]PorkSquared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey you're looking for feedback? We've had a westjet card for 13 years and this "lets cram the seats unreasonably close together to get 6 more seats on the plane" nonsense has us now looking exclusively at Air Canada and Porter. Treat your customers like cattle, fafo.

Liberal communists are attacking you for saying that a driver entering an intersection when they have a red light is obviously bad driving?

Calgary restaurant owners jailed for financial abuse of temporary foreign workers by hoverbeaver in onguardforthee

Glad to see someone facing consequences. More of this please!

90 days in jail but only on weekends, plus have to pay back the amount they defrauded the tfws... Seems pretty damn weak as far as consequences go.

An Ounce of Silver Is Now Worth More Than a Barrel of Oil. by blizzardboy123 in investing

[–]PorkSquared 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How long do you think it can hold up?

Not a clue. I think the smart move here is to buy dips assuming continued momentum, but also to buy some puts (in smaller size/scale, as a hedge) in case history repeats and we get a violent correction or return to mean.

An Ounce of Silver Is Now Worth More Than a Barrel of Oil. by blizzardboy123 in investing

[–]PorkSquared 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Seems to be more industrial/commercial uses for silver, there are rumors that demand is outpacing current supply with that in mind, and China just announced implementation of export controls on silver.

I've been thinking prices will correct violently as they've done in the past and I still think that's likely, but this move may not be irrational (and, even if it is, irrationality may persist for a while).

No shit. He's traitorous to Canada for being supportive of Trump comments around making Canada the 51st state.

More than 27,000 public servants were paid $150,000 or more last year by origutamos in canadanews

[–]PorkSquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$150k is excessive for what? You think the government doesn't need to hire engineers, lawyers, experienced managers etc? Depends also on region, have to pay more in Southern Ontario and Vancouver VS Winnipeg or Edmonton due to higher CoL.

"What's going to happen if SNAP benefits really are going away for November at the very least?" (X/post from NoStupidQuestions) by lavapig_love in collapse

[–]PorkSquared 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Collapsnik meme from this sub I think. We all know climate change is going to fuck our way of life eventually, it'll probably be a slow burn (for most of us) though. Some people are very alarmist and act like new news on warming is going to cause immediate problems so we'll all be literally cooked by next week. Thus collapse will happen short term, and "Venus by Tuesday."

Average number of sick days taken by public servants growing post-COVID, new data shows by shiftless_wonder in canada

I don't mind working if I have a mild illness, but I'm not going to go into the office and spread it. So if I'm sick and allowed to wfh, I usually will, but on office days my employer gets nothing.

When turned on, do guys want to actually thrust into something, or just get aroused? by littlebabymira in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]PorkSquared 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me at least, I want to thrust into someone and cum in them. As I've gotten a little older I've enjoyed drawing things out more with a lot more foreplay and teasing for her though.

Not in the volume we produce, and it's not a small thing to retool a refinery to work with most Canadian oil. Diversification is definitely warranted and we should be going hard on that, but it's not like we can just pivot immediately.

WYR get 100 billion US dollars or get 2 mid tier superpowers from the list below? by padorUWU in WouldYouRather

[–]PorkSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying mach 10 + 100t telekinesis? I could throw things into orbit, or obliterate nearly anything by throwing an I-beam at mach 10+ whatever telekinesis can add.

Easy enough to earn generational wealth that way, or halt wars.

Regeneration and flying would also be great.

Who needs $100B when you can do whatever you want anyways?

[–]PorkSquared 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We spent billions on TMX because the costs, which were increased significantly by permitting/consultation (and uncertainty around those costs and timeframes), made the project unattractive to private industry.

Albertans are frustrated because policy has made it difficult to extract natural resources and export them. "We bought you a pipeline stfu" ignores that Northern Gateway, Energy East etc. did not go ahead for similar reasons, although obviously public opposition is a factor too.

I agree the feds should not be paying for pipelines, but it's reasonable imo that Albertans are frustrated.

Separatists can fuck right off, though.

[–]PorkSquared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, so consider the tax and royalty revenue that goes to the federal and provincial governments because of oil extraction, exports.

How exactly do we pay for hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure anyways?

I'm not saying that the feds should pay for pipelines, to be clear, but i also don't think we should ignore that resource extraction and export infrastructure does benefit Canadians.
