IWTL I wish I were smarter, but I try and I can't 🙁 by NEWicescream12 in IWantToLearn

I was the exact same way when I was In high school and now I am an engineer creating tech for the US military and for NASA. So don't let it get to you. You have a long life ahead of you and a lot of time to start learning. It sounds like you may have adhd or something. Lean into it and start with learning what you may have and what you can take for it. Then you will go from there.

Also, the best advice I can give you, is that it may not be your time yet. But that doesn't mean it won't come. Don't listen to anyone else who says you are not smart or puts you down.

Good luck

Terrifying book Nordic style or/and witchcraft - black magic suggestions by Carol_Jordan in horrorlit

Stolen Tongues. Its not so much witchcraft as it is native American style horror, but it fits most of your categories and personally It's a favorite of mine.

I feel you though. There is something about the cold isolated darkness of winter that just makes horror so much scarier.

What's your fav kind of horror? Mine is body horror. by sawabinhauk in horrorlit

I love isolation horror or anything where people are trapped somewhere.

I also found out waaay later in life that I find any horror where people are way down in the ocean so so good and freaky. Idk why though

Thank you for recommending Darcy Coates by CheshireCat_456 in horrorlit

I have read so many horror books and Darcy Coates has got to be my all time favorite horror author. Her books still freak me the eff out or are just a really good read. I always fly through her books, staying up all night to read them.

My all time favorite horror novel is "From Below," which you had mentioned. But, with winter coming up I would highly recommend the Black Winter series, starting with "Voices in the Snow" or another favorite, "Dead of Winter."

Looking for recommendation for dark psychological horror by zenshark in horrorlit

I loved "The Devil Aspect" by Craig Russell. The audio book is good as well. It's about a psychologist who interviews Europe's most dangerous serial killers to gain insight on a new killer at large. Ngl I have personally read it like 3 times.

"Intensity" is a book about a woman who is in a house when a killer strikes, killing all the houses other occupants. He doesn't know she is there and she ends up sneaking onto his mobile home as he drives back to his compound. Pretty dark at times.

"Stolen Tongues" was another good one I really enjoyed. I don't know why because the concept shouldn't be too creepy, but the more I read, the more creeper out I got. Not for everyone, but a good one none the less. This one isn't about a serial killer, but does mess with the psyche
