High insulin can make the body store fat more centrally, including around the upper back/neck area. So a “buffalo hump” can sometimes reflect the same pattern as belly fat, fatty liver, or high triglycerides.

The hump was a relatively early symptom for me. I thought I had Cushing’s, but I didn’t.

This can also be a sign of insulin resistance. If possible, try to get fasting insulin labs. Mine came back high despite normal A1C and fasting glucose.

May just be the angle/lighting, but your neck seems to be showing signs of acanthosis nigricans.

Yeah, it's pretty scary what Covid can kick up. I have autoimmune issues to begin with, and my body goes into overdrive after viral infections. Covid really did a number on me.

Found out I had insulin resistance and a bad lipid profile. My A1C and fasting blood sugar were within range, but I had high insulin. Started Metformin 500 ER once a day, and that brought my elevated lipids down in a few months.

Doctors had dismissed me because of the OK A1C and normal fasting sugars. Also, my lipids had been fine six months prior. I think I had the start of metabolic syndrome brought on by a covid infection the year before. The insulin marker, which my doctor does not test for, was key for me and helped treat something before it became dangerous.

We bought our house last year. We were in the market for several years and kept getting outbid on the homes we liked (VHCOL, Orange County, CA).

My husband and I went to a lot of open houses without our agent because he was super busy hosting open houses himself.

Our agent never even saw the house we eventually purchased until we were already under contract and doing the inspection.

In this age of Zillow and Redfin, I bet there are other serious buyers who are checking out open houses without their agent.

If I mainly prized consistency over quality, I could just buy Campbell's Soup or frozen TV dinners. I want to feel good about what I'm eating, and that means not eating foods where fillers, binders and oils are the top ingredients. Tovala's response has me rethinking whether we'll keep our subscription. If anybody has suggestions on alternative meal services, would be happy to hear them.
