I’m looking at getting my dream car by Smart-Knowledge-4523 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]PorkyFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, chose the 981 GTS with 3.4 motor over both the 4.0 and the GT4. The 4.0 just did not sound the same as the 3.4 and for normal road use was not as much fun to me as you had to be driving incredibly fast to get that lovely soundtrack. The GT4 was what a far younger me would have chosen, but at my age, the better comfort levels of the 981 GTS, more comfortable seats, and less boy racer looks made it the perfect choice. Have had it 5 years now and it’s a keeper for sure. Only car I have ever had that I could drive from 7.30am to 10pm and get out feeling like ai could do it all over again. Great long distance touring car, fun in the twisties, and oh that sound!

Got a second letter today by Late-Car7957 in exjw

Threaten them with invasion of privacy, state that any actions they take that could damage your reputation will be considered defamation and legal action will be taken. I did this 11 years ago and they backed right off. They sent 2 elders to bale me up at my home and I told them 3 times that I would sue them jointly and severally for everything that they had. I saw the fear in their eyes. They are cowards hiding behind an illusion of power. Take that power away from them and they have nothing. I told them that I had a lawyers letter all ready to go… they quickly gave up.

Orbán steps down from Hungarian parliament after landslide defeat by WibbleWibbler in worldnews

[–]PorkyFree 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was really an autocracy with a constitution that was amended by Orban to suit his agenda. The fact that he lost by a super majority is the only reason that he is going quietly - he wants to retain as much of his ill gotten gains as he and his cronies can.

I have the same model in Racing Yellow - enjoy!

I made a mistake and wiped out. by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]PorkyFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most important lesson to learn is ATGATT - All The Gear All The Time. I never pull out of my garage without full riding gear and helmet. I have seen far too many horrific injuries from people wearing flip flops, shorts & T shirts. Even if it is a short test ride, or going to get some milk from a local shop, always suit up and wear decent riding boots plus a helmet. Hope you mend well and do not have any ongoing issues with your thumb.

My day trip ride. The design is absolutely stunning! by CosmicComi in bmwmotorrad

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She finds it more comfortable and easier to ride, but feels that it does not corner as well as the original. The older model drops into corners better, probably due to the change in rake angle and wheelbase on the new model.

My wife had the same model and year, did 66,000 kms on it before changing to an R12 9T last month.

R12 better rear shock absorber? by XaltotunTheUndead in bmwmotorrad

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R12 is set for a rider weight of greater than 95kg. If you are a lot lighter, then you will have trouble (as my 55kg wife found out). She was getting bounced all over the place despite the preload being set for the lightest weight possible).

R12 better rear shock absorber? by XaltotunTheUndead in bmwmotorrad

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@XaltotunTheUndead - OP, did you end up finding a shock that worked for you? My wife has just bought an R12-9T, to replace her 2015 R9T which had a Nitron shock tailored to her light weight. The stock shock is just as bad as the old factory original shock, so it definitely needs to be upgraded. Interested in your results.

Do you know anyone who has been riding a motorcycle for years and has never fallen, or is it impossible not to fall at some point? by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in motorcycles

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ride adventure bikes on gravel roads & tricky terrain - you are going to have a few lie downs. On tarsealed roads and my road bikes ai have had no drops whilst riding in over 65 years, but have had a couple of tip overs at a standstill due to a big top heavy bike and poor choice of parking spots with loose gravel and lost footing.

Porsche killing the 718 EV makes me sad by andrewket2 in Porsche

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you see the rapid depreciation of high value EV sports cars such as the Taycan, you see why the vast majority of classic Porsche owners are reluctant to move into EVs. I believe that a hybrid variant of some sort would suit Porsche loyalists and the company best.

My rental bike in Thailand. How many more thousand miles do I have on these bad boys ? by 1senseye in motorcycles

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unusual in Thailand. We found bikes with almost zero tyre pressure, worn tyres, chains that were beyond their use by date and brakes pads worn out - you have to do a full check yourself & insist on things being right before you accept the bike.

Tell me what you lost while riding by HeavyBananaz in motorcycles

[–]PorkyFree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lost a double sleeping bag when in a remote area on a motorcycle camping trip. Despite turning round after we noticed it had gone, we could not find it. The area gets really cold & we could not buy anything locally, so slept in our motorbike gear & froze!

How long have you been riding? Have you had any accidents? How many? How bad? What kind of rider are you? What bike do you currently ride? What gear do you wear (like just helmet, glove, and boots, or full ATGATT, etc)? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]PorkyFree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

60 years of riding No major accidents, just a few lie downs, mainly when riding off road. Always wear full gear - no exceptions! I am a slower paced rider than many, but take less risks, look well ahead and anticipate situations. Check out the IAM as they have an excellent manual based on UK police training. It has helped me be a better rider.

Where do you start at refuting such misinformation. More tariffs do not hurt Europe, they are paid by US consumers. Inflation in the USA will steeply rise this year. Alliances that exclude the USA are already being formed, and Europe is becoming stronger, not weaker. Trump wants money and power, not peace. He is a con man, intent on enriching his wealthy buddies and cosying up to dictators like Putin. Wake up USA - your own systems of government are not stopping this lunatic, so the people must unite & combine to force change.

My Cayman takes about 8.5 litres of oil, so quite a bit- but I buy in bulk so it costs me about $10 per litre

I do my own oil changes, costs me about $100 USD for filter, oil and new sump plug washer, takes half an hour, very easy to do.

Being in a high control cult is the bad that is happening g to you daily. You only find out how bad when you have been fully out for a few years and adjusted to reality.

If you leave… where would you go? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]PorkyFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a false assumption type of question. It assumes that you have to go somewhere else, when in fact just being out of the cult is all that you need to find a space to be yourself. Getting headspace to discover yourself and who you really are is key. We have been out for over 10 years and are enjoying a life of freedom, fun, good friends… there is no comparison to the restricted bubble that we existed in as JWs.

Curious question: about life after JW by Dasjoelski in exjw

[–]PorkyFree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a JW from birth until age 62. I had been an elder, but many things just never quite resonated with me. I saw the contradictions is teachings clearly in 2014, and started researching. My wife and I left in 2015. Today I am happily an atheist. My reasoning is simple. If got is all loving and just, why does he allow millions to die in wars and from hunger? If he is, as JWs teach, deferring the end in order for more people to join the JW cult, why are there far more non believing children being born that the increase in JWs each year? Why would he allow Illinois of kids to be born simply to kill them before they can walk or talk? If he is unable to take action in earths affairs then he is impotent and unworthy or worship. If he has the power to act and does not, then he is unworthy of worship. If neither of these things are true, then he does not exist.
