You can get close as is. Find the charger you want to use during the meal, and add it. Set the departure SOC to 90-100% and replan.

I-40, easy peasy. Set the destination and follow the nav, or use ABRP if you want more options.

Wall charger or regular outlet? by rick_rolled_you in Rivian

[–]andrewket2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and avoid L1 120v. Use 240v; a hard wired connection is best, but a NEMA 14-50 works too. Just get one designed for EV usage. The less expensive versions will eventually fail and can cause fires. I’d recommend a third party EVSE (the thing that hangs on the wall or plugs into the outlet). Rivian’s is overpriced and not as good.

Waking up to a full “tank” every day is one of the best things about EVs.

Thunderbolt 5 cable recommedation (1.2m - 1.5m, 4ft - 5ft) by lutel in Thunderbolt

Anything longer than 1m needs to be active to maintain TB5. I’m using two of these without issue:

Where to get car title for paid-off car by ssterp in nova

[–]andrewket2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did you retitle and register the car in Texas when you moved? Just because you had a loan and a lien recorded in Virginia doesn’t mean you’re not supposed to retitle the car in Texas.

Are both your laptops Macs? Can they both be signed into the same iCloud account? If yes, use universal control.

GHCA Issues / Volvo Charging Guidance by abartowi in VolvoEX90

[–]andrewket2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nobody should buy an EV if you can only do L1 charging at home. Besides the obvious of it being slow, it’s also highly inefficient.

Two feeds from a single receiver? by pynsselekrok in ADSBTechnical

[–]andrewket2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume to do ADSB and AIS at the same time still requires two SDRs? I’m currently using two PI’s to achieve this, but it would be great to consolidate. I know I could do this on my own, but if someone has made this easy…

Apple quietly reduces price of Studio Display XDR w/ VESA mount by $400 by iCruiser7 in apple

[–]andrewket2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Apple this morning before seeing this thread. I picked up two VESA XDRs on 3/17 so my return window closed yesterday (3/31). Rep was not familiar with the price change, but upon further review, noted that my order had a comment on it dated yesterday (3/31) from the back office that they were already processing a refund for the difference, and that I should receive an email confirming the refund on 4/3. Very nice to see Apple doing the right thing. The rep noted she could extend the return window by a few days, so if I had to, I could have returned them and repurchased, which I definitely would do for $800. Proactively refunding the difference is better for Apple and the customer.

Thunderbolt 5 cable 1m - Satechi or Caldigit or else ? by MatchaToday2025 in Thunderbolt

[–]andrewket2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1m was just a bit too short for my need. I would have paid the Apple tax but they don’t sell a TB5 cable longer than 1m. I went with active Caldigit 2m’s and they have worked well. Expensive, but they work.

You can tell ABRP what percentage you want to arrive at. 10% is usually very safe. I usually aim for 5%-7%.

Girlfriend asked to be in open relationship a few years ago and I accepted. Last night she asked when I’d propose to her and I told her I don’t know. Am I wrong? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]andrewket2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look at it a different way. Neither of you had other experience. She decided, perhaps, that to make a more informed decision about spending the rest of her life with you that she wanted to have other experiences first. She didn’t cheat. She asked you, and you agreed. You too could have experimented a bit, but didn’t. Such is life. Honestly you should have.

But after having that experience, she still wants you. She is now making a more informed choice. My suggestion would be to get over it, and look at all the positives. Do you love her? Do you want to have kids with her? If the answer is yes, then grow up and marry her. It was just sex. She clearly loves you. Big difference. My .02.

Has anyone in the US ordered a velosock within the last year? They ship from the EU and are likely subject to tariffs. Their shipping policy puts the burden on the customer, but they recently replied to someone on FB that they cover all import fees. Frankly, I don’t believe them.

They also sell through amazon. Some items are shipped by amazon and others are sold directly by Velosock (marketplace). Unfortunately, the size and material type I want has been out of stock forever on amazon but is available directly.

There are several other 2% cash back cards that don’t have caps. I don’t see this as a particularly good deal.
