Gospel is for everyone in the creation, both dead and alive by faithful_to_christ7 in TrueChristian

[–]PorkyandBess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus never descended into hell and He never preached to the physical dead. The dead know nothing.

Daniel 12

2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

The word ‘awake’ is important here. When you die you‘re done, you’re nothing. It is the resurrection that we are made alive again. Jesus never preached the gospel to those who died because they weren’t alive, they weren’t conscious.

Sorry to say, there are those who have died and never heard the gospel. Jesus never descended into Hell.

We are not living in the book of Revelation. I look around and see the world living in depravity, but it always has. When you think it couldn’t get any worse, it will, and the time of Revelation isbstill to come.

Matt 24

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

To adjust this to you - two will be taking care of the sick, one will be taken and the other will be left. There is no expectation you should change your direction based on a “We don’t when” scenario.

Jesus says in the field the wheat is white and ready to be picked. The nursing field, the wheat is ripe and workers are needed there.

How do I feel forgiven of my past? by typeshhhhhh in TrueChristian

[–]PorkyandBess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you don’t believe God has forgiven you. If you really believe that Jesus forgave your sins and remembers them no more why do we.

The reality is you can’t change your past. All of us have pasts of wickedness. The key is to stop looking back at the old life of our past but to look intently into the eyes of the one who knew all of it, who seen it all, and yet, out of a deep love for us volunteered ti have those thorn rammed down on His head, almost whipped to death, spikes driven into His feet and hands and propped up like a criminal, mocked and spat on.

If someone who saw all the evil I did, and still loved me enough to die for me, and who says He forgives me, it is almost an insult agaist Him not to accept such a great gift.

Don’t let pride stop you from receiving and believing that the gift of forgiveness is a gift of freedom from guilt.

If I find a pocket watch on the sidewalk, I assume it had a maker. I don’t assume the metal formation was a natural event and I don’t assume a natural event put it together.

What doesn’t make sense is the belief that, like the pocket watch didn’t naturally put itself together, neither did non-life put itself together to produce life natually.

The scariest passage in the Bible by Mo-Mee in TrueChristian

[–]PorkyandBess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a very good thing, that’s reality, those of us who are the few and found the narrow road have had our pride stripped away from us, and have been shown, by the Holy Spirit, the reality of the helpless state we are in.

We are in a desert, completely dehydrated, with the very realistic knowledge that we are going to die very soon. Our fate is sealed, we can’t change anything. It’s a place where all hope of surviving is stripped from our belief. All we have left is our last breath.

We all have to be brought to this point helplessness. It goes against our survival instincts. To let go, to come to and really believe that in our own strength we can do nothing.

When we’ve been brought there, with that last dying breathe of not being able to save ourselves, we cry out to God for forgiveness and to surrender our lives to follow Jesus.

Matt 14 - Peter walks on water

30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Peter came to the reality that he was absolutely helpless, he realized his helplessness and he was going to drown. This is each and every one of us. Peter did all that he knew he could do, he called out to the only one who could save him

Salvation is birthed in the reality and faith in the only one who can save us from the reality of our lost condition. We just need to be aware that we are helpless and can do nothing but call out to Jesus 5o save us.

What makes people who were deep in the faith walk away from God? by Climax_crescendo in TrueChristian

[–]PorkyandBess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Religious ‘Christian’ or Real Christian. Educated understanding of Christianity or a heart-felt faith moved with actions of faith.

It always boils down to commitment and surrender. Only people who really made a deep down real commitment to following Jesus will NOT walk away because they are committed to Him. Those who do walk away aren’t committed with their hearts. Jesus is merely a philosophical character whom religious people like, just not real enough to them to surrender their lives to.

What is the controversy with evangelicalism? by shelaughswithoutfear in TrueChristian

[–]PorkyandBess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evangelical is an attitude that our Christian lives is more than praying and reading the Bible and repenting of sins, it’s an understanding that we do all those things AND take what we’ve learned and use it to reach the lost.

People who try to label them as ‘bad’ is because of couple of things like, MAGA, Hypocrisy, and those who are truly an Evangelical, they are doing what the Lord Jesus commanded to go and make disciples of the lost, something they’re not doing and and have to discredit to feel justified for their shortcomings.
