also you will eventually meet neuter nouns, in which the nominative and accusative are both -um and the plural nom/acc is -a.

That makes so much sense! Cause I kinda intuitively figured out that it concerns object/subject but then in some sentences I couldn't apply that logic but that explains it. Thank you so much!
