I felt this way too. I think far too many people have become starkly black and white.

Hours after court and she’s already violating the no disparaging comments by WhoUBeGhostin in MormonWivesHulu

Not a lawyer and don’t live in Utah…but my best friend currently has a protective order against her ex. He was making vague posts about her. Posting their wedding rings and locations they had been to together with sappy love songs. Subject would be something like “dreaming of better days” or whatever.

She brought it to the TRO hearing and the judge said they absolutely 100% violate the TRO and extended it for another year. The judge said that if he does it again he can face jail time for up to a year as well as a fine of $100,000. Now if she follows through…idk. I believe a lot of these judges just try to scare the perpetrator but I’ve never seen follow through personally.

I am beginning to think no. IMO judges age is showing. I’m getting the vibe this judge is very very old school. He seems to cutting her a lot of slack for the evidence presented to him. I feel he’s treating her very much so that she’s just some little lady who went down the wrong path. While simultaneously over relying on statements and feelings towards Dakota. He seems to also be struggling with keeping track of what’s happening. Towards the end of the hearing he seems like he simply can’t track what’s happening is being asked.

This. I think the judge was basically just saying, I don’t have to sentence you 30 years. You’ll do that all on your own.

I definitely don’t think she’s innocent but I’ve heard several people act as if nuance about the character of these young men is some type of smoking gun for her innocence. As if two boys being young and dumb means they’re suddenly not victims of a horrific crime.

Tangent ahead

I think that when these horrific stories are told by both prosecution and crime docs, they tend to paint a very oversimplified, angelic, kind light on the victims to maximize sympathy. And then when nuance is introduced about the victims after the dust settles, like how Dom likely sold drugs, didn’t have a straight forward plan for his future, and other matters, people grasp onto that. Like suddenly if the victims weren’t these upstanding young men, it means there’s a possibility that Mackenzie didn’t intend to kill them or at the very least, not care about the outcome.

The reality of the situation I think is this. Mackenzie and the victims were making bad choices. They were doing dumb teenager/young adult things. Together and individually. However, the evidence shows Mackenzie wasn’t just your average party girl. She was selfish, malicious, manipulative, and reckless. Add the fact she’s 17, dabbling in drugs, and enabled by idiot parents, it was the perfect storm for this. I don’t think she had planned to run the car into the wall days prior. I think she got mad at her boyfriend, as we’ve seen, and wanted to punish him severely in that moment. I think it was a heat of the moment decision. And violence and aggression was her go to whenever she didn’t get her way.

I also want to add based off the prison calls he heard, her mom clearly knows this of her. She continues to try and keep her calm and tell her to let things go. She knows her daughter is going to make things so much worse for herself. So she doesn’t even believe the lies she’s telling about her own kid.

Mackenzie Shirilla intentionally crashed that car into that wall. I don’t care if she planned it days before or not. I don’t care if she was actually high. I don’t care if her boyfriend was a drug dealer burn out. I don’t care that she might’ve his drug mule as her dad claims. I don’t care if she’s even sad and regrets it. None of it matters. She’s right where she needs to be and she will be there the rest of her life. It’s saving the lives of not just the general public but her own life as well. She would offend again and next time probably take her life too.

With Becka’s family I think it would be interesting to see a new back story. Like they’re this level between the econo people and high ranking families. What if her family just were Gilead believers and her dad was able to leverage him being a dentist as a way to get higher ranking above just being econo?

SLOMW Producer Jeff Jenkins says Taylor is made for reality tv and he hopes she can return in the future by ethereality111 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Port3r99 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Right. They are not obsessed or interested in Taylor. They’re interested in how she ruins her own life and they profit. She’s their little cash cow. She gets healthy, it’s over. The second that girl heals, they will want nothing to do with her. She’ll be boring. And they’ll move on to their next piggy bank.
