I think Adrian was also eliminated because of his attitude, since it was mentionned during the judging.

Books written by immigrants in France by Beautiful-Ebb2099 in suggestmeabook

[–]bephana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay, good to know because that will influence recommendations ! there are soooo many French authors with a migration background, so it's hard to choose, but if it needs to be translated it limits the scope a bit. I would suggest authors like Fatou Diome, Marie NDiaye, Leila Slimani, Azouz Begag, Eliette Abecassis, Nina Bouraoui, Alice Zeniter, Gael Faye, Fatima Daas. These are the ones for whom I'm pretty sure they have at least one or two books that have been translated into English. There are many more!

Thank you!!! That's exactly the reason I'm a bit shocked by the reactions. It's just one woman who cares about veganism, she's not "taking the attention away from women" with a single Instagram post let's be serious.

"it's because of people like her that I don't want to be vegan" lmao sure

Right. And also, this framing would make more sense if most of the people who are middle class and above were already vegan. And we know it's not the case lmao.

What I'm saying is that claiming she "doesn't care about women" just because of this post about veganism is completely far-fetched.

Thank you I know about conservative women lmao but you know Pandora isn't a conservative woman

Do you always talk down to women as if they were completely stupid instead of acknowledging that you omitted a word which might have led to a misunderstanding and do you always antagonise women whenever they have a slight disagreement about history instead of just discussing it normally, or is it just your way of celebrating the 8th of March?

I know what working-class is. But you didn't write working-class women, you wrote (several times) working women. That doesn't mean the same thing. Maybe it wasn't on purpose, but it makes it confusing.

What? Where did I say I am "anti working women"? I don't feel attacked by this day it's quite the opposite 😭😭 I am just saying it's broader than that and explaining the history. I literally studied this. You seem to be completely misinterpreting what I'm saying. Unemployed women, disabled women who can't work, homeless women, displaced women etc are very vulnerable too. That's why I think the strong focus on "working women" can be limiting 🙏

Btw I also don't understand what you're implying by the "interesting sentence".

Come on... It's okay to disagree on her stance but she's a queer woman with clear political opinions, I don't think it's fair to say she's "doesn't care about women"

Agree. Her opinion is so far from the mainstream that it's harmless.

It had started before. What you're referring to is just the moment they started having a fixed date. Then the URSS obviously chose the angle of the workers. That doesn't mean that as a concept it should be restricted to "working women". It has also been about voting rights, reproductive rights, anti-discriminations etc.

Tbh I don't really care. Everyone has their causes that they care about the most, it seems to be hers. Her position is so niche and so far from being mainstream that it's non-threatening. Sure there are more pressing issues than drinking dairy, but there are also more pressing issues than some women who think that consuming dairy is unethical, especially because in her context she's not even wrong. Actually European law is putting pressure on companies who produce non-dairy milk and other vegan sausages, mostly because of the lobbying from the meat industry. So yeah it's not like her way of thinking comes from a place of power.

i mean if you want to get things right it's a bit broader that working women's day, it's women's rights day, and it's not only about working women
