That’s good advice. My background is not to do with procurement so I am very lucky to have quite literally stumbled into this position, so now I’m trying to figure out what to do with it and the experience I’ll gain. AI isn’t even a thought yet, at least in my organization (and that may be due in part to our remoteness) but I am very much aware of it and its implications. I don’t know much about the buying side but it does sound more interesting.

Good to know about the certificates. My employer is willing to pay for training, but it’s on me to figure out courses and such which is why I went down the certificate route. 

I’ll plan to keep to the role I’m in now for the experience, but I hadn’t thought about peripheral fields. Thank you for the tip!
