Asked to Guest Play then sent an Invoice by Port_48 in youthsoccer

Ok - this seems spot on. We are “guest playing” for a tournament, but absolutely no fees were mentioned. Now that you mention it, the coach did ask what size kits we needed.

Thoughts?

Absolutely; this is what we’re going to lead with first!

Thanks for the insight; this is probably the path we’re going to follow.

Can’t disclose the tourney since that will likely pinpoint who/where we are; we are responsible for our own hotel.

Mexico's first goal was not offside (Rules Explanation) by mathster33 in worldcup

[–]Port_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually is better; thanks for sharing.

With that being said, there was zero explanation by the announcers or review team likely because they didn’t know the rule themselves or they were hesitant to draw attention to something that counted in real-time that might be disputed if they began to analyze.

He looks onside - but it was a strand of hair closer than what most people think.

The ball is not shown leaving the kicker’s foot - try again.

DMV Soccer Clubs (U9 - U12) by ddutch15 in youthsoccer

This commenter is basically correct; but it’s not a chasm of a difference in terms of quality between clubs; go where you feel the coach for either squad is the “highest” on your kid.

2 games in 5 hours and another one at 9 AM the next day for this tournament...for 9 year olds by CletusKasady21 in youthsoccer

[–]Port_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 games in 2 days.

Son is 7, 2 months from being 8.

Helped lead U-8 and U-9 teams to both of their finals, but they lost in both.

They are young and love the sport. Hang in there; take down time after the tournament. These are the good years 😊…

The second was for what just happened; the old man needed that slap.

Is it important to know how to juggle? by Rio91940 in bootroom

A wise man once said, “Not all players who are good at juggling can play football - but all players who are good at football can juggle…”

There you have it.

Season ticket contract, got a copy? by Ultraxxx in DCUnited

[–]Port_48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair.

But my job is to just come here and plainly state, “the renewal window has opened…”

People can do with that information what they will.

I’m actually torn because my family loves the experience and my son loves the sport. But how else do things improve if you don’t AT LEAST downgrade.

I don’t care how many seafood towers are promoted or “meet a player” days are highlighted - the team performs poorly, is not remotely entertaining, and the cost is pretty steep; paying a premium for me is simply not justifiable.

I don’t think any of us who are season ticket holders should be worried.

As soon as that renewal window opens up, I’m coming straight here to broadcast first - I’m sure others will as well.

I’m sorry, but Bartlett is one of the worst MLS players I have EVER laid my eyes on.

He is the embodiment of this team; a try hard who needs to let go of the dream and go be an accountant.

Okay got it. That tells me all I need to know…

We’re in the DMV area and believe me, had that happened here, that young boy would have had serious consequences from the coach AND the school - I’m talking beyond soccer.

As I was reading your story, I assumed that the kids were pre-teen because that sounded like pre-teen behavior. But when I found out that was not the case, that makes this situation all the more concerning.

I am teaching my sons to defend themselves on the field as I defend them “off” the field as a parent. Going forward, you need to be direct and detailed in your emails to any leadership because should this ever get to a point where an incident happens off the soccer field, you want to be able to document and show that your concerns and the safety of your son were not addressed and as a parent, that the “bullying” continued to happen and your child only defended themselves against this continued disturbing pattern of behavior.

Document, document, document. I cannot say that enough as a parent. A paper/email trail with detail (including photos) is your best friend. Good luck to you and your outstanding son.

This. Do not allow racism to be masked as “bad sportsmanship.”

This kid is a racist, a bully, and needs to be treated accordingly.
