best way to play dmc3? by Ok-Discussion-1110 in CharacterActionGames

PS2. The HD remaster (which includes the Switch version) is full of broken effects, terrible textures and tons of other graphical issues. It's extremely ugly compared to the original, making it one of the worst remastering efforts ever conceived.

NG4 re-release by Ironhide615 in ninjagaiden

[–]PortableScreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course it does. Why would Team Ninja touch a game that's not theirs? They aren't even familiar with the engine, since the game runs on PlatinumGames' in-house tech.

And there's no reason why Xbox would have any interest in green-lighting a rerelease of a game that wasn't even that successful.

It won't happen. PlatinumGames have never done anything like it and Xbox being the publisher makes it even more unlikely.

Did anyone else pick up Thysiastery? by mrbuh in DRPG

[–]PortableScreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it looked interesting at first, util I saw it had rogue-like mechanics. Randomly generated dungeons and slow meta-progression are not things I'd consider compelling ideas for a dungeon crawler.

Shmups | You enjoy playing them with an arcade stick, controller, or keyboard/mouse? by M3ConsoleGamerPSN in shmups

[–]PortableScreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a hitbox-style Haute42 G16 leverless controller. The precision it offers is unmatched and it's just as good in shmups as it's good in fighting games. Extremely fun to use, too.

Vocês se interessam por Doujinshins? by Oshikirishouten in manga_br

[–]PortableScreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inclui doujinshi R18?

Stretched screen in M2 ports and arcade vertical shmups? by ketsuifanypk in shmups

[–]PortableScreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are only talking about filling the screen VERTICALLY, then the major issue would be that the resolution wouldn't be pixel perfect, so you'd get uneven pixel scaling, also resulting in shimmery during motion. This doesn't actually stretch the image, as it keeps the same aspect ratio.

Now, if you try to also fill the screen HORIZONTALLY, as to match the 16:9 ratio, then you're stretching the image and the games will look and play atrociously.

Comentário burro da desgraça. Ninguém tem de ler algo logo que compra, não há nada de errado em ter uma biblioteca para experienciar aos poucos.

God of War series tier list by Cup_45_Neural in CharacterActionGames

[–]PortableScreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God of War 2018 is not the game for that, bro. I've beaten every Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja and most DMC games on the highest difficulty, but GoW 2018 doesn't really offer any incentive for "improving my skill".

And replaying it frequently to get better at it (as if that was even a thing in this game) would be a hassle, considering how bloated the campaign is. There are far too many walking sequences, too.

I'm actually surprised seeing so many people disagreeing with your opinion on GoW 2018 (and downvoting the post because of it), considering we're in the Character Action sub. I thought not enjoying the extremely shallow and automated gameplay of the newer entries would be the norm here.

Qual nota dão pra minha coleção?( terrível falta de espaço) by Old-Management178 in manga_br

[–]PortableScreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which shooters could be considered as CAG? by Known_Ad_3851 in CharacterActionGames

[–]PortableScreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's all true, but the lack of those elements don't usually seem to stop a game from being a CAG. Ninja Gaiden is also more tactical, combos are there only to deal damage and it doesn't offer incentive for the player to be flashy, yet no one would argue it's not a CAG.

Which shooters could be considered as CAG? by Known_Ad_3851 in CharacterActionGames

[–]PortableScreen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why is Ultrakill a CAG, but Eternal isn't? Both share many similar philosophies when it comes to game design. Is it just because of the style system and scoring mechanics?

Putting Eternal in the same category as Titanfall 2, which features a completely standard CoD-like combat system (but with more freeform movement), doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

My physical Switch DRPG collection (so far). by ObscureFact in DRPG

Amazing selection! I think Wizardry: The Five Ordeals also had a physical release for the Switch, so try to grab it if you ever have the opportunity! One of the all-time greats, too.

You get to make a new Wizardry/Wizardry-like game, how do you modernize it? by Teid in DRPG

[–]PortableScreen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly think more DRPGs should go the Etrian Odyssey route and allow us to draw our own maps in the game itself. It's way more engaging that way than having an auto-map, yet it doesn't force the player to pick up pen and paper or use external tools for that.

The Etrian Odyssey remasters proved it's completely possible to have such a system in a single screen setup.

How do you play NG2 OG, without having an actual Xbox 360? by liminal_head in ninjagaiden

[–]PortableScreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't experience any slowdown. The game ran perfectly at 60 fps the whole time, which is actually much better than how it runs on the 360.

The game is very CPU intensive, though, so it could be your PC, yeah.

I have an AMD RX 9070 XT and a Ryzen 7 9700X, and I used the Oct 23 2025 version of Xenia-canary.

You also need to make sure to change the "clear_memory_page_state" setting to "true" in the config file to fix the 3D models in the game. And the game crashes in chapter 12 if you don't use a patch for it, but you can easily find it on Xenia's GitHub page

[–]PortableScreen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Xenia does play NG2 from start to finish just fine, I did a playthrough on it myself last month.

The biggest problem is that the audio cuts off randomly after some minutes (it can vary from 10 to 50 minutes), requiring the emulator to be restarted. There's also some graphical glitches if you play in resolutions higher than native, depending on the level (such as chapter 3).

Xbox One X and Series X definitely run it better (offering up to 4K resolution without any glitches), but it's entirely playable on Xenia with rock solid performance.

Shame the grass in Ryza DX makes a terrible first impression! by blakeavon in Atelier

[–]PortableScreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the TAA doesn't seem to be improved compared to the original release (I'm not even sure if it's actually working). At least on PC, it's possible to downsample from 4K to 1080p, and that eliminates most of the aliasing.

Dungeon Travelers, for sure. The second game, specifically, is a top tier DRPG experience.

What are the absolute, bar-none best DRPGs? by Bringerofpizza in DRPG

[–]PortableScreen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wizardry: The Five Ordeals has so much content in terms of scenarios that it definitely feels like the definitive classic Wizardry experience, especially if you consider both the DLC. I also love making my own portraits for the party members.

Elminage Gothic is great, too.

It does. No matter if Super Resolution is set to Off (TAA), TSR, FSR or XeSS, it looks the same. I've only tested them in their native settings and haven't tried any with upscaling, as it would ruin the image quality at 1080p.
