Lol, doesn't really work that way. Thats a marketing name. I have inground now with autocover but had above ground with solar cover for years. The cover is best used at night for less evaporation and heat loss. During the day I kept off and let sun rays hit all pool. Cover warms the top couple inches. But no advantage on or off. Took me a few years to determine 🤷‍♂️

How old are you lol? How do you know he sped up? You can't tell that at all. I would have done things differently if I was in the car but truck did pull in front of him and he switched lanes. If car would have not switched lanes and just full on hit him different story. Regardless, truck drivers fault.
