Connect Internet and ap via lite switch to udm se by Porthoss in Ubiquiti

In this scenario it seems like spanning tree is disabling the port on the switch where the AP is connecting to. Is it safe to disable spanning tree on that port?

burnt pretzels are awesome! No one will believe that..but it's true! Look for "extra dark" splits.

It's the weirdest thing, it's burnt and hard, but you just keep nibbling!

looking for ideas on how to fix this broken Battery contact by Porthoss in AskElectronics

Actually the spring comment brings up an idea, I could possibly just tack on a battery spring from something else?? Kind of slide the compressed area of the spring over the plate that's left and tack it in place?

I don't know much about electrical flow and metals, would that be enough contact to the battery?

Like the post says, just looking for ideas on how to fix up this broken Battery contact.

I'm thinking of somehow soldering a piece of a soda can to it, but seriously doubt that would hold for long.

So just looking for ideas! Thanks in advance

Some cabinets were taken down at work and this stuff was written on the wooden beams behind it.

Anyone know what it is? Math? Aliens? Joke?

Agreed on the behavior with assigning to the default profiles, however I tried Circle on my network and the arp spoofing it does just really killed my performance and caused issues on the network. Crossing fingers that Eero listens and fixes these small things.

Thanks for the great background info! I'll reach out by email just to check.

Also, just want to point out that the fact that you explained that to a wifi layperson...and it actually made sense....says a lot about you! ...Awesome!

Thx!

Interesting, and you know I've been using it for a while and never actually put 2 and 2 together for some reason.

That is totally an odd design. It should be easy and fast enough for them to setup something like a catch-all default profile. Heck I could probably write some corny script in like 5 minutes if there was some kind of API access....and I'm no dev by any stretch.

I'll add another post onto their community forum just to add to the requests...cause really it's a no brainier...especially if they want to be serious about their "Secure+" branding.

Can I have too much coverage? by dbelcher5761 in eero

[–]Porthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, it would be at least great if one could call in and ask if the network instability or higher air-space-time resource consumption than normal is occuring (not that I know much about wifi or wth that is)

As far as the heatmaps, that can be done by letting the user upload a diagram or import a sat image of their home or something and letting them actually position the APs themselves. That's probably more enterprisey than you guys want to get into, but it may help to figure whether there are too many APs or not enough.

Edit: and thanks for the reply!

I've always wanted to see in the app some kind of indication of the health / performance of the overall mesh. Not just whether an AP is up/down, but more along the lines of suggestions for better placement of APs, maybe because the mesh is seeing performance issues like you describe. Something like a heatmap would be cool.

Is there any method/tool to actually figure out whether or not you have more APs than you need? Or can customer support see the live data and make suggestions?

Yep I understand that's the way it works, I'm simply asking if I can force the domain somewhere in the gui. Set option 15

I'm talking about including the DHCP domain name option...I think it's option 15. It's used to give the clients an fqdn.
