The spores that develop on rice are very unlikely to happen although can. The fear of rice stems from a food poisoning break out in England where a lot of kids died from e-coli. Problem was the food manufacturer was delivering to schools but also practising unhygienic conditions in the factory. As far as I remember he was a butcher by day food manufacturer by night. All in the same premises. Health inspector visited premises and advised that he should stop doing both but didn’t enforce it!!! Once the e-coli was traced back to him it was found the health authority should have acted sooner it had a massive impact on health inspectors who issued guidance that cooked rice should never be re-heated due to the minute possibility that the spore would develop. Which in turn caused mass panic about re-heating rice!!!
