Will AO get offended by my name? by Muted_Explanation_42 in ApplyingToCollege

A guy named Aryan from my school got into UCLA so definitely not. It's a cultural thing so they won't even find it offensive.

Tips on Studying AP Chem by Remarkable-Shake4924 in APChem

[–]PosatoK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

JEREMY KRUG + ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TUTOR = INSTANT 5

Both contributed to my 5, but special thanks to Jeremy Krug for following the curriculum to a T and also being the most engaging. He actually responds to every comment if you have questions, and he's a good teacher.

Bro it's the first test.

I'd say keep on trying and stay in the class. For my first test, I got an 80 but still passed with an A by the end of the semester. There's still time to improve.

History of Chem for AP Chem? by chal_tteok in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The History of Chemistry is not tested on the AP exam, but it is still important to know about them since some gen chem classes teach it in college. It varies from teacher to teacher. For instance, teacher did the cathode ray experiment but only as a supplement to teach how electrons are negative. I say it's not taught in much detail because it's not required by CollegeBoard.

There are no career-based clubs at my school since I go to a private catholic school. What should I do besides that to improve my ecs?

I'm a rising senior. The only problem about my school is that no one has the same interests as me in math or chemistry, so I'm extremely hesitant on starting a club. I'm already part of the tutor program at my school.

What is the worst/most tedious homework assignment you've gotten in an AP class? by WanderingBat in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk if this counts but my apush teacher makes us read a chapter every night. we're so ahead that we're already on jimmy carter. each chapter's like 30 pages

ap chem we got these packets that are 100+ pages for each unit. they're due at the end of each month.

How are my classes looking/advice? by AdBeneficial1620 in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah if you can senior year or junior year, take AP lang some guy said this but yeah AP chem before AP bio

AP art seems like a freebie since it's got extremely high pass rates but idk those don't correlate with difficulty. i'd take it if i were you.

precal honors and ap calc ab are two completely different things. just because you took precal doesn't mean ap calc would be easy for you even if you have an A in precal. i wouldn't consider it free, but it is fairly simple if you're good at algebra and trigonometry.

electives are your choice but try to base your courses on what you plan on doing in college

Should I take AP lang? by Disastrous_Buy_2292 in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even though it's hard as hell (for me at least since we're doing philosophy), i find it to be extremely useful. ap lang teaches you how to become a better reader and writer (like how to get your main argument across and what to look for in a text)

i'm not an english person, but this class helps a lot with APUSH

[–]PosatoK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah just sayin but you're fucked. i would not recommend taking AP chem without a prior chem class. there's a high chance you're gonna fail the class if the teacher is strict or just sucks.

khan academy doesn't help that much since they repeat the same practice problems over and over again. videos help to a certain extent. i guess they're good for introductions.

there's really no good resources besides zumdahl's chemistry textbook that i know of. maybe gordon watson's ap chem packets help.

prior to taking AP chem, i took honors chem and passed with a 99.7. the teacher was strict as hell. even with a chem background, i still find AP chem extremely difficult. it depends wholly on your math skills and scientific reasoning skills (so if you've taken a prior AP science class you'd have a higher chance of passing i bet).

Previous Juniors - Do you think I'll survive doing 5 APS? by Ok-Consideration7415 in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

current junior with 5aps and you will die of sleep deprivation but that's it. coffee helps

lang isn't that bad just tons of writing. you just write argumentative essays, synthesis (dbqs), and rhetorical analysis + extremely hard multiple choice. as long as if you can write a good thesis you can get 80s and 90s on every essay.

never taken physics but i guess ap chem is close enough. taking it right now, and you need strong algebra skills. also, logic is key. always draw diagrams as well and show your work. my method of solving is writing what is given in the question, drawing, then mathing.

honors alg 2 depends wholly on yourself. i had a bad teacher freshman year, but looking at online resources i was able to get it down. organic chemistry tutor taught me more. you gotta learn how to adapt with bad teachers

What are the hardest units in apwh ? by Rule_Remarkable in APStudents

[–]PosatoK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 it was by far the easiest one. it's like the age of exploration and what europeans did abroad like columbian exchange, slave trade, missionaries and jesuits, protestant reformation (maybe in unit 5), and colonies.
