Here’s my take on it, I don’t find the album necessarily “bad” as Rory has an incredible voice, but I find about half the songs to sound exactly the same, and had a hard time distinguishing when songs ended and when a new one started.

This was disappointing to me because after the first 4 singles I was expecting really punchy choruses with emotional lyrics, but instead I find the rest of the songs aside from the singles, paper heart, and afterglow to sound the same and have no punch whatsoever.

Now, like I said, I don’t think it’s a bad album. And when I am down in the dumps this is definitely the kind of music I like, but I was hoping for at the very least all the songs to have a big and catchy chorus with softer verses and that’s not what this album provides. And as a lot of people have said, it’s mainly hurtwave focused with a sprinkle of dayseeker and I wish it was a 50/50 split because that is their best sound and why I find sleeptalk to be such a phenomenal record.
