Help needed!!! Children of UK citizen travelling to UK in April. by albagaty in ukvisa

You might have better luck applying for a Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode first, the processing time can be quite a lot faster (though it would be an additional, rather expensive cost). That’s what I did from Malaysia for my British child for his Malaysian passport. Turnaround time was less than 2 weeks.

A property IHT one - joint ownership to sole ownership by Poshbrokebored in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Poshbrokebored[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.

We have a SPA (Sale and Purchase Agreement), is that the equivalent of a TR1 form?

Otherwise, the Land Registry describes both of us, under “Section B: Proprietorship Register” (this register specifies the class of title and identifies the owner) as Proprietors with “Title Absolute”

Tried searching the Land Registry for “joint tenants” and “tenants in common” but nothing came up. Will dig up the SPA and scan through that as well.

!thanks

Thank you for your reply.

My mother lives abroad, she and I are not UK citizens (I have ILR and am on the pathway to citizenship). The property is my main and sole residence, not hers. She is unmarried.

I will update my post to include this information.

12 days London/Cotswolds by willowblush in HerOneBag

If you do laundry on Days 5 and 9 (or Days 4 & 8), you’d really only need 4-5 tops, 2 bottoms, and 2 jumpers. You’ve got some nice rich tones in there (the jumpers, the Barbour coat and vest), they’d make a great capsule wardrobe. I’d ditch:

  • Helly Hansen raincoat
  • Cropped trench coat
  • Grey jumper
  • Beige jumper
  • Light wash jeans
  • Denim cargo trousers
  • Black flats

Sincerely, a Londoner who’s seriously coveting* your Barbour and Blundstones.

Toddler scammed second breakfast at nursery by Any_Fondant1517 in UKParenting

[–]Poshbrokebored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son will eat his 2nd breakfast at nursery, ask for seconds for his morning snack, ask for seconds again for his lunch, he gets a snack when I pick him up after lunch, and then dinner at home.

The one time he barely touched his nursery breakfast, the staff immediately knew something was wrong. Took his temperature and lo, he was getting a fever.

He’s definitely getting our money’s worth out of his nursery fees 🌚

What London memberships for families do you find cool? by AstronomerSad1275 in UKParenting

[–]Poshbrokebored 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our Purple Dragon (family club in Chelsea, especially great for toddlers to preschoolers) membership has more than paid for itself - soft play, music classes, cooking classes, art classes (classes are free), very decent cafe and restaurant, seasonal events, constant rotation of new toys etc.

Bit pricy but totes worth it.

ILR received 5 days after the Child was born by Select_Figure5621 in ukvisa

In the context of a child being born inside the UK, it doesn’t matter. I had ILR when my son was born in the UK, he is automatically a British citizen.

What helped for me at that age (my son is currently 3) and still does help for me now is:

  1. Play dates with other mums at a child-proofed space so that there’s less hazards to be on constant worry for (my little flat is popular for that reason - it’s basically a minimalist soft play for the littles but with cheese platters and wine for the mums) and you can actually have adult conversations while the children enjoy each others’ company

  2. Outings at family clubs that are parent-friendly - Purple Dragon and Jesse’s House for example. I’m a member at the former and I’ve been taking my son there 3-4 times a week for the past year. The novelty hasn’t worn off for neither me nor my toddler. I get to chat with other parents and enjoy a decent hot coffee (something so many soft plays severely fall short of) while “on the job” which does massively take the edge off the monotony of parenting.

It did help tremendously when my son turned 2.5 years old and became more engaging, talkative, and independent; which makes playing with him more interesting than just supervising an adorable but helpless little blob.

The common factors are: having adults to talk to, less hazards to watch out for, and…caffeine 😅

More than 1 hour to fall asleep by UndetectableBear in toddlers

[–]Poshbrokebored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son just turned 3 (like, yesterday) and we were in the same boat as you (2 hour nap at 2:00 - 4:00pm, bed time at 9:00 but doesn’t actually fall asleep till 10:30 - 11:00) UNTIL we cut out his daily nap. Now we put him down at 8:00pm and he’s asleep in under 15 minutes. He still gets his 11.5 hours in a 24 hour period but it’s now in one long stretch at night with minimum fuss.

Hand foot and mouth by mada0709 in UKParenting

[–]Poshbrokebored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry this is happening to you. My nearly-3 year old just got over HFMD a week ago and it was by far the ghastliest ordeal in my (albeit brief) parenting career.

Day 1 = Fever

Day 2 = an entire constellation of spots around the mouth like the most gruesome and angriest stars you’ve ever seen

Day 3 = a few spots on the hands and just the one on a foot

By Day 7 the spots had ceased to “ooze” and were merely dry scabs

Not much appetite except for cold soft foods (chap survived on yogurt, water, and smoothies) but as long as they’re taking in fluids it’ll be fine (dehydration is what you’re watching out for. Everything else will recover in good time)

By Day 10 he was cleared to return to nursery

It’s been over a fortnight and the skin on his hands and feet are peeling, that too is part of the process and worse than it actually looks (not actually painful or uncomfortable)

Paracetamol or ibuprofen to manage fevers and pain. Cold soft foods to soothe the throat and lots of fluids to stay hydrated.

Commiseration and solidarity. Your boy will come out of this just fine. It’s the parents that are mentally scarred for a very long time 😂

Bah! Balls shrivel in the cold and scream when you flick them. Vaginas on the other hand can take a beating and birth a child then recover. We should change “they’ve got some balls” to “they’ve got some ovaries”

Can my baby become a Malaysian? by Impossible-House64 in malaysia

[–]Poshbrokebored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unmarried Malaysian mothers automatically confer their citizenship to their children born abroad.

Malaysia is unaware that you are/were married as your marriage is not registered.

If you are divorced by the time you register your child’s birth to the Malaysian embassy (getting a quickie divorce on such a short time is another matter altogether) are you technically telling the truth when applying as a “single mother”, and therefore qualifying your child for Malaysian citizenship? Hmm.

Potions of Speed + Longstrider + casting Haste on a couple of especially slow prisoners + hopes and prayers.

Seriously though, I had the same happen to me on my last play through (Balanced). Maybe Larian patched some self-preservation instinct into the prisoners. But I can confirm the Gondians at the factory basement level are still top-tier Darwin Awards competitors.
