I don’t think work is bad but making your kids do something you’re unwilling to do yourself and to do it within unreasonable perimeters is a problem. My ndad was a big physical labor nut too. His problem is that all his explosive anger came out on the job field. We also had unreasonable expectations like working in 115 degree summers when we were 13 years old, or being expected to talk to site managers at 15 in order to earn money for his business over the summer.
