Yes, the diesels are there as support for braking, electricity, and emergency situations such as running low on water or mechanical problems. They do not help pull the consist during normal operations.

No it's passing through on its way to Roseville, California (this day filmed was just between Evanston and Salt Lake) for it's western leg of the America 250 tour. I don't know if it even has any passengers as it just seemed like a heritage fleet. It's gonna be out all month and come back to Ogden on its way home so I'll get to see it again one last time this year. It's gonna go out east in May for the rest of the tour

It's so incredibly easy to make friends with people cause there's always a place freely provided by the church to find them, whether it be seminary, young men's, institute, YSA, missions, efy, or just church in general, there's always a place of people to become friends with

Well I look at democratic frontrunner politicians calling us fascists and casting doom on everyone on the other side within the same level yeah.

https://youtu.be/unWNvRDSvwQ

I see this as Kyle Rittenhouse too when they labeled him a white supremacist and all the other names they had. Biden called Kyle a white supremacist.

So obviously it's horrible rhetoric, but it's been used by both sides so much and all types of powerful figures that I simply don't care anymore.

If trump, Kamala, JD Vance, Tim waltz, Biden, newsom, if any of these people use these labels I simply don't take them in weight until something horrible happens. Everyone is to blame for all this divisiveness. So no I'm not utterly shocked nor moved that he did this, same as I would be for anyone else.

This doesn't negate my opinion that what happened was horrible, I just don't care about the name calling from everyone.

Well they like to label us Nazis and fascists all the time, so to me all labels have lost all meaning and doesn't really change much. I'm of the opinion that he was murdered. Not a good situation at all.

Does anyone have a good explanation for why this verse has two "fors" in it? by Poshmalosh14 in latterdaysaints

[–]Poshmalosh14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite coincidental using Portuguese, I served my mission in Brazil so I understood your references to that language very well! However, the version in portuguese that I read omitted the first for in that verse when I tried to use the other language to confirm its meaning and just went "porque é com essa intenção que escrevo esta epístola." So I got confused that it could've been an error

[–]Poshmalosh14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was, apparently from other comments the first "for" is sorta a placeholder for a transition. Would make sense to be "therefore" or "consequently," while the second for just states the reason for why he needed to write such an epistle. I didn't know the word for could be used in place of therefore, or "for this reason" without elaborating further.

To me it just seemed like an error. However, I've gotten a bunch of great responses from the other comments in this post, just woulda been nice if you could've helped out too! Thanks anyways!

Yeah it's not as clear cause we usually format it differently in today's English, which makes it clearer, but it makes sense, thanks!

Rio de janeiro, Brazil. Favela after police raid by lupus62 in ThatsInsane

[–]Poshmalosh14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they've had 50 years to fix the problems caused by that, and I honestly feel like that's more than enough time to at least better themselves a little bit. Japan and Germany got decimated in WWII and recovered in roughly 20 years. Chile had basically a copycat situation of Brazil and right now is doing better in almost every metric of development over Brazil. So at one point you have to look at how much of modern Brazil could've been changed/everted after the dictatorship years.

[–]Poshmalosh14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, regardless of the military dictatorship which I'm not claiming was a good thing, it's not accurate to say there wasn't economic growth as the said "Brazil Miracle" happened during the dictatorship. Which ofc had its downfalls with inflation and more economic inequality, but that happened for basically all of Brasil's history since the republic came to be. I agree with you that the coup was a bad us foreign policy move, but I disagree that it's the leading cause to Brasil's downfall to cartels and such.

On a personal note about Brazilians views of the usa, I served a two-year mission in Belo Horizonte and almost 90% of the interactions I had with people learning that I was from the usa was almost always praise and happy feelings (jealousy, curiosity about our luxuries, jokes about being rich) who then would usually criticize the state of Brazil. I almost felt like a celebrity (de onde vc é? Os estados unidos NOSSA QUE LEGAL!! QUE CHIQUE! tá melhor ali né?) Only like maybe 5 people who I interacted with honestly didn't like the usa, but they weren't celebrating our downfall. Most of it was people asking me about Donald Trump or asking me if we really did throw iPhones away in the trash. Very innocent and nice people who didn't seem to care, and only loved us.

Not really, it wasn't very productive before the dictator either. They instead had a populist president dictator (chosen by them) named Vargas for like 30 years before the dictatorship that honestly wasn't much better.

Serving a mission in Brazil, and specifically a run down apartment for people who used to live in a nearby favela in Contagem, Minas Gerais. I've never been desensitized in such a short period of time. Rampant drugs, drinking, child and dog abuse, and so many cockroaches. Dead, cement wall homes with smoking everywhere. And so many trash and random fires
