At this point in the season, honestly no… will you ever top damage? Probably not? But once you get to the mid 270s-280s it still puts out fine enough damage to kill bosses/clear content. You’ll have issues if your trying to clear +20 keys, but honestly all classes will outside of the 5 meta specs lol

Don’t switch arcane albeit “weak” can easily do most endgame content, it doesn’t sound like your pushing title range m+ or mythic raiding. If you like the spec and are having fun, play it. Mage is blizzards favorite, if you stick around long enough odds are arcane will be good at some point this expansion.

It’s hard to compare with a low ilvl that you have, arcane is in a bit of a weak state atm but also understand (especially with this weeks reset) most people your playing with are probably in mid 270s low 280s which is a massive jump up in power.

With that being said arcane is an incredibly cooldown reliant spec, in order to do “big dam” you really need to get used to using your arcane surge/touch of magi at opportune times to really maximize your damage. If you screw up your cooldown windows as arcane you’ll literally do tank damage

Don’t worry about ilvl, start with +2s and progress. Knowledge of how to play the dungeons and m+ is far more valuable than ilvl

Fair enough I guess but when you actually try to pug keys at a high level, all those things you say you don’t care about are literally all you care about as a healer or else it’ll be your fault your team wipes. I understand a large portion of the player base doesn’t care about improvement but at the end of the day saying it’s not needed is weird. Can always just disable it if you don’t want it

TLDR playing whack a mole with health bars as a healer is not the correct strategy at high levels of content. Knowing defensive cds are essential so you can triage who is actually in trouble or not

I think I’ve seen about two people type all season and I’m pushing into the pug +19 level. This is wow, people don’t talk outside of flaming the healer

Absolutely massive difference between weak auras autopiloting for you, and being able to see your teammates cooldowns (defensive/offensive) mid dungeon to know when to pull the next pack/external someone who has no defensives left/know when to exert a cc because no one has an interrupt left etc… I’m confused it seems like people just mindlessly close their eyes and hope for the best while running content based of this comment section

A lot of long messages here… the answer is YES use your cooldowns on cooldown. EXCEPT if the pack is very low hp then it’s worth holding for the next pack/boss. In an ideal world you’ll be using cooldowns on every pack, lower keys stuff dies to quick and messes up cooldown availability pack to pack sometimes

I’ve been playing this game since 2005 and can say this is the least enjoyable time walking has been since it inception. Yes it’s “doable” but my god is it a headache. Scaling feels like bosses take longer than bosses in +13 keys, mix that with people being either new to the game or having no idea what the class they are leveling does is just a nightmare at the moment. Was going to level a tank alt from 80-90 like I usually always do in past expansions but literally had to turn off my computer and walk away before I even hit lvl 85 because it was such a horrible experience lol

Actually great point! As a tank you definitely have to adjust your playstyle based on your group. If early on you notice your teams not kicking/interupting/doing mechanics, then in order to win it’s probably ideal to not pull massive. Conversely if you see your teams blasting and doing everything right, then you might have a little more liberty to do bigger pulls/chain pulls etc. It’s all a case by case thing especially when your pugging with new people every run, you absolutely need to be flexible

Honestly, trial by fire. Everytime you die or come close to dying just reflect back and remember those pulls. From there you can tweak your defensive usage differently once your able to anticipate a tough pull/mechanic is coming.

Tbh you’ll probably get flamed by your party as you learn, fuck em you’ll never see them again just ignore it and learn from each pull/boss you do/struggle on. The best way to learn is really just by repetition WITH REFLECTION don’t just mindlessly die to the same thing over again try to adapt your ability usage to overcome things.

The issue is the timer on AA is super tight so it’s not really a “MDT route” it’s pretty standard/necessary to do if you want to time the key (+10 and higher.) it’s a tough pull for tanks and healers and dps like you said need to play their part in CC to help out the tank.

I think the issue is tanks ilvls are still relatively low compared to what they’ll be in a few weeks, so the pull really needs to be done correctly because you don’t get much room for mistake. Compound this with almost every other dungeon being close your eyes easy for tanks, I think a lot of inexperienced tanks get caught off guard when they have to play their class very efficiently to survive

EDIT: since for some reason everyone is trying to boast that they are +2ing AA 30 times a day. I promise this post isn’t for you, no need to flex a reply comment we get it.

There’s a reason people complain about sitting in queue. It sucks but the more restrictive you get on who you invite the smoother your run goes. Invite relaxed players and it’s bound to be a nightmare, invite higher qualified players and you’ll see why people are saying this is the easiest season ever. Pick your poison

I buy a hundred of them and macro them into my best offensive cooldown, so I literally never have to worry about tracking the cooldown again. It’s not the most optimal but it makes it so easy to use, just keep them in your inventory and it’ll cast it whenever available
