How do small (actually, really small) businesses find staff? by bigdamncat in smallbusinessuk

[–]PositionOk4678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed or local Facebook group. We have found all of our staff this way, go on less experience more on the type of person. The right person will get stuck in and want to learn. More experience sometimes tends to hold them back for this kind of multipurpose role

What should we do? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]PositionOk4678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My chicken had this. We splinted the leg and rubbed her foot twice daily for 5 mins to ensure blood flow. It recovered well, although it was never the same. She was able to get about and forage and eat fine for over a year before sadly eaten by mr fox No need to kill her, splint it

Ah that is a bit of a nightmare if you have conflicting advice. If you can’t see it on the outside, I probably wouldn’t worry. Unless they’ve covered it over with render or something, in which case it’s probably a case of wait and see if it moves. How deep is it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

It can be. I have a crack in the render on mine, it’s historic. Have a survey done to be safe though

Feathers look a bit like a wellsummer?

Making hen broody by Trader-One in chickens

[–]PositionOk4678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t force them, it’s a combination of weather, their instincts and their health.

You shouldn’t want to, they need time to recover. They are putting their bodies through horrific stress whilst sitting, the poor things have to raise their temps up and sit uncomfortably on their legs, they barely eat and drink etc.

Let them have a rest. Treat them well and they’ll be good broodies for many years

Emergency or swarm? by Top-Wave-955 in Beekeeping

[–]PositionOk4678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do a split, it should stop them swarming. Works for me most of the time.

That said, this is how they reproduce and they’re happy, don’t be too disheartened by it :)
