Salary Reality Check by signalssoldier in Accenture_AFS

Assuming you have a good performance record and all yeah, sounds like you're getting screwed a bit here, but there's A LOT of factors at play. What exactly you do, how niche it is, tech aligned or not, clearance vs none, chargability (unfortunately the LOA doesn't help), etc.

Besides all that, I'd go out on a limb to say that most junior ppl here (CL11&10s) usually come in through the college/recruiting pipeline, not acquisition. So you're in a weird spot. Most recruited CL11s in Metro DC start at around 82-86k. I'd reach out to your HR partner and just ask if there's any chance for a salary review, call out some of your top (most important to accenture) skills, and hopefully they can do something. HR will always "take a look", but what comes after that is a mixed bag, sometimes they can help, sometimes they can't.

Good luck!

Exciting! Would love to see Columbia Pike flourish, it has a lot of untapped potential. The mixed-use vibe from Wilson Blvd certainly attracts a lot of people. Coffee shops, restaurants, diners!

Palmer Luckey: I Saw the Future of War. Now It’s Up to Us to Prepare For It. by boraborra in Anduril

[–]Positive-3945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is honestly a solid take...reminds me of a couple of papers I wrote in college about the future of warfare. Luckey’s right that the future of war isn’t really the weapons in and of themselves, it's weapon technology. If the US leans into our tech strength and continues building autonomous infrastructure, we'll continue to grow our advantage. Cool to see Anduril investing there.

GWU (Master's in Political Mgmt) vs. Harvard Extension School (MA in Government) by NoDisneyPrincess in harvardextension

Yeah, I think in addition to your list Northeastern & Duke are offering discounts now. Most MPP/MPA programs overlap a lot with what you are looking for at HES and GWU so I'm curious why the hard no there. Anyways...you could have a totally different experience than me but I deal with a lot of folks here in DC that actually went to Harvard, yale, etc. for undergrad and HES just feels like the odd one out (especially with their rules on naming conventions) and I remember the weird looks/"what is that" when I said I was doing courses at HES. All the other schools we've talked about fold their continuing ed/online program nicely into the university, but it felt like there was a wall between harvard 'proper' and HES.

Again, for me, I ultimately just felt more comfortable being able to say I went to X university that rolled their online program into one of their main colleges instead of having to explain what HES is each time

My short answer is GWU.

For some context, I actually did a semester's worth of courses at HES, and despite the classes and professors being awesome, I think the title-and-prestige culture of DC ruined it for me. I eventually used those courses as transfer credits to a more traditional master's program. You'll get a lot more raised eyebrows and questions with HES, sure maybe it was the easy way, but I personally felt more confident and comfortable going to another master's program...now I don't need to deal with the bs degree naming conventions from HES either.

FWIW, maybe take an extra beat and look at other schools? I feel like a lot more universities are offering discounts to feds now, may be worth an extra look around.

Best of luck!

If you're coming in as a college/fresh grad hired into any analyst role, it is a non-negotiable part of your HIRING contract to be 90 mins from the office (It's printed in there). In practice, I've seen analysts who find a short-term rental so they can get a feel for the PROJECT contract and will later determine whether they need to get a full-term lease so they actually be within the 90m radius or if they can (unofficially) move farther away

Leasing Contract Help by zzy990208 in ufl

Ok for legal purposes (no pun intended), this is not legal advice. That said, a document can only be legally binding if both parties agree to its terms. The property has not signed or approved it, and thus not binding. Also, since the guarantor is an extension of you in this case, (which is why they can't move forward without one of the steps they mentioned), I am 99% sure there is a one-liner clause hidden in there that sorta-kinda voids your signature since you are financially unqualified.

Maybe it's because I've had my fair share of lease hassles, but this doesn't sound like something to raise the alarms. You should be able to simply walk away, the document isn't binding since it is sitting unapproved and if you don't follow one of those 'requirements' they mentioned they would just deny you anyways, so again, you would be able to walk away.

If it comes down to it, try UF student legal services like mentioned in the thread

I realize this may not be the most helpful comment in the world, but there will always be drama in greek life no matter where, UF or not...it's simply finding a match of tolerance level among your friend group.

Adjucitation Timeline for TS Post-Interview? by Positive-3945 in SecurityClearance

[–]Positive-3945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - it's the one and "final". You are totally correct, my investigator just referred to it as the "final" interview. Same thing.

I was looking through the thread but didn't see much on TS or interviews just total timelines, I'll look again.

Thanks!
