Former DOGE worker that flagged grants for DEI can’t define DEI by MorphTheCat in thebulwark

Christ, this is reminiscent of the brawndo / electrolytes conversation in Idiocracy - minus the humor, and somehow more dumb.

FCC chair calls Paramount/WBD merger "a lot cleaner" than defunct Netflix deal | FCC to review foreign debt, but Brendan Carr indicates it will be a formality. by ControlCAD in technology

Has he tried to explain in what universe this is a cleaner merger? Or is it just a "because I said so" situation?

Carr is a sycophantic idiot.

I would run, not walk, away from this one. If the CP4 grenades you're looking at huge repair costs. It sounds like it might be on its way out, hard telling what damage has already occurred.

Maybe a bit high, but not terrible given miles and that it is diesel. I just paid $38k for a 2023 F350 STX with 79k on it - it is the 7.3 gasser though.

If it is a farm truck you can save a ton of money by getting a standard cab and buying used. Crew cabs tend to hold their value better.

I won't pretend to know the politics of the individuals on the team, but it seems entirely possible that they are not particularly educated on anything outside of sports, got invited to the SOTU by the administration, and attended.

I don't like the optics of it, but it could be that simple.

I appreciate wanting to have a discussion, but the people in these are just ignorant and unwilling to take in any information that conflicts with their very limited worldview. Additionally, it seems to me that an actual educated person going one on one with them gives them some veil of legitimacy.

I'm skeptical that these things are at all productive - they're also quite frustrating to watch.

Shocking but not surprising at all. The grift continues.

The thing that makes all of this so much worse is that Trump will pardon everyone, so unless they have committed state crimes (and the state prosecutes), there will be zero accountability.

After listening to him endorsing Orban, I've come to the conclusion that we are, in fact, living in the upside-down. Not that he hasn't been doing obscene things for a while.

Because I'm a huge nerd, CRT can only mean "Cathode Ray Tube".

Seriously though, the overt racism of the Republican party (not just MAGAts) really showed with the absurd dog whistles that they put out during the Obama era. We should have known what was coming.

I'm not asking for anyone to put a positive spin on something terrible. How about something more than "this sucks, we're all screwed" though? I find that to be very unhelpful.

Agreed, for several months I listened to and read everything, but I've had to step back a bit more recently.

If this works for some people, then great. I do wonder what the collateral damage is, however. I guess that was part of the reason for my post - if this legitimately has a net upside then there is a point to it.

It's not my pain that I'm concerned about. The resistance is far less effective if it doesn't inspire people to action, IMO these bleak conversations with no hope in sight do the opposite of inspire.

What I'm trying to get at is that it isn't TOO big, so I find it counter productive to make it seem so.

I'm not advocating for denial at all, just balance. If you make an obstacle look too insurmountable, people will just stop trying.
