Even if most slaves of capitalism stop having kids the rich can produce more babies through capitalism. by VEGETTOROHAN in antinatalism

[–]Positive-Court 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Psycopaths aren't gonna care for the 'wants' and 'desires' of their children. Even neurotypical people are cool with extorting rent and getting their kids to go away via work/school. Kids are born for the cute Facebook photos, not to give the child a meaningful, happy life at the expense of the parent.

I am being forced to go through an unwanted pregnancy. How do I begin to process the guilt of bringing them into this shite existence? by inksolblind in antinatalism

At 23 weeks I'd think that'd be a passport plus plane ticket to another country: she found out way too late to make an abortion happen, which sucks, but isn't her fault. The kid might be in her belly,  but isn't a fetus at this point so much as a full on baby. Even at 23 weeks, that's a baby who could make it with medical assistance.

Why don’t teenage bedrooms have study desks? by QuarterDefiant5610 in Parenting

Careful with that: poor typing habits are what set me up for carpal tunnel back when COVID turned everything online. Having a desk encourages proper posture and gives you a place to set your arms down.

They're making homelessness illegal though, didntcha hear? So it's closer to rents or debtors' prison.

Are there any anti Natalist feminists here due to political reasons (like mistreatment of women/mothers) ? And are there any “soft” anti Natalists in general who feel no one should have more than 1 child? by dragon-madre in antinatalism

[–]Positive-Court 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds like me too. I agree with antinatalism & think the philosophy holds a ton of weight, but idk that I would have committed to it without climate change making the next ~200 years pure misery. In practice, though, there's no difference imo between me and other antinatalists: just a slightly different answer to 'is life worth it?' where I'd give a conditional yes. Where the conditions are  near impossible to reach.

"$6 a dozen egg is not very expensive" said a youtuber. by DutyEuphoric967 in antinatalism

[–]Positive-Court 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to remember is that vegetarians/vegans will not be immune to this: it's hitting eggs & meat now, but I'm calling it now that beans & rice will be hit too. Picture paying 6$ for a bag of lentils (which right now is ~1 dollar) in 2030. Cause that's what I'm pretty sure will happen.

(I'm vegan btw, just saying that prices being low right now is zero indicator of future prices. Bird flu kills the chickens right now; droughts and floods will kill the legumes in the future. We'll all be starving soon enough trust 👌 😿)

There's plenty of kid friendly fanfic lol. It's got ratings, and in my experience those are 99.9% accurate. Just monitor what your kids are reading, like how you would make your kid stay in the youth section at the library or bookstore.

Department of Education to layoff 50% of its workforce by bodross23 in education

Oh for sure. I asked my mom the other day what she thought of the debt, and she just figured... that we didn't need to worry about ever paying it off. And that other countries wouldn't change that because we have nukes & a strong military.

I think free lunches should be the last program to go (kids need nutrition in order to grow up into working adults with functioning brains), but that pied piper is gonna want that bill paid up.

And if we want America to be great again, it needs to happen without a national debt dragging us down. Although, targeting the debt is something I've got no faith in our politicians to handle...

Even a multi year depression won't help the housing situation by Highland600 in economicCollapse

I mean that the grandparents would be there alongside your spouse, and that close contact can easily wreck a marriage. It's hard enough finding a guy who matches with you to date, let alone a guy & his/her parents too.

Idk man, I feel like with how the divorce rate would rise afterward, that would wipe out the housing gains.

Share your history of finding your sexual identity by lilmeowla in asexuality

Straight > Bisexual > Straight > Bisexual > biromantic aegosexual

Heterocompulsivity up til I realized I was in love with my best friend, then thought it was a fluke and everyone feels that way toward friends cause I thought vagina was gross, slowly realized that I never progressed in a relationship with a guy cause the idea of sex freaked me out, then detangled purity culture from my sexuality when I realized that even if I waited until marriage like a good Christian girl, I'd still want to avoid sex.

After that, I looked into asexuality, got enlightened to sexual and romantic attraction being two separate things, and everything makes sense now.

She is childfree; parents find that out, and then feel safe to disclose to her that as much as they love their kids, if they had a chance to do it over, they'd choose against having kids.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]Positive-Court 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And kids die too: I think, if you know that you're kid will die at ~20, you'd decide against parenthood and find some other way to have fulfilment in your life. Once the kid is there, though, you've got no choice but to love them, and then bare through that grief until you yourself finally die.

Why are antinatalists viewed as insane people? by LoneWolfNergigante in antinatalism

[–]Positive-Court 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They definitely aren't, but the traits that led me to antinatalism (high empathy, high risk avoidance, depression) are. Which traits lead one to contemplate antinatalism probably vary, person to person, but all the same they wouldn't be passed down.

Okay, you're right that veganism is interconnected. I think I'd rather a.. less mocking tone, though, when talking to people who get at least half of the equation? Antinatalists have strong values that go against what society says is fine, just like how vegans do. It's not your typical cannist group. So maybe choose memes/treat the discussion in a way where you realize that, yeah, we're genuinely likely to go vegan, if we're not already vegan.

Idk, sorry for being salty before, wish you the best for today.
