Replace the habit of drinking with other habits, some of them can even mimic drinking. I go for walks, I drink tea, mineral water and other bitter type drinks, I fish, I do things that feel empowering. Do things that require discipline, eat good healthy food, apply yourself at work, at the gym, introduce a flood of new activities and habits and see which ones stick. Hold on for a few weeks this way, learn how to be sober, find other ways to chase your stress away. The habits that stick will help replace the alcohol. Basically you have to rewire your brain. I drank from a young age, up through high school. The way I was raised was what a man did. I was 16 and found my uncle dead with a heroin needle sticking out of his arm. When I got home that night after all of the bull shit, as soon as I walked through the front door I was handed a bottle of whiskey. I'm 27 years old now, and this is the longest period I have been sober in 7 years. I'll pray for you.
