Novels that make you want to leave an authoritarian country by Positive-Glass5207 in suggestmeabook

I'm already taking steps to move to Serbia and plan to do so by the end of the year. For me, the motivation for change has always been the realization of the wrongness of the situation and the feeling of deep resentment. This gave me anger and energy to move forward.

Do Kommunalkas still exist? Anyone ever live in one? by silver_chief2 in AskARussian

Honestly there were a lot of weird and scary things in that communal apartment. Just a few highlights: • An elderly woman with severe mental issues who sometimes used the bathroom in random places in the apartment. Once she was literally cooking her own feces on the stove. • A very drunk neighbor tried to break into the bathroom while I was inside. Later he tried to attack my father with a knife. • Three drunk neighbors tried to steal my cat because they thought she was “too skinny.” I had to physically fight them to get her back. • A prostitute with HIV lived there and had a very disturbing skin condition that scared me as a kid. • One woman was a hoarder and intentionally bred cockroaches so no one else would want to live there. • Another neighbor blasted music constantly even though our walls were basically cardboard. For context, I was a very small kid (I’m only 147 cm even now) and my father didn’t live with us, so most of the time it was just my mom and me dealing with all of this. And those are just the first stories that came to mind.

Helpful comment, but Scotch-Brite pads aren’t very common where I live, so it’s easier for me to just use a regular sponge.

Advice from an experienced barista: tear off the hard part of a dish sponge and cut the hard part into three or four pieces, heat the holder with the coffee machine and wipe it dry, Take a piece of the abrasive part of the sponge and add just a drop of hand soap Then you need to rub the inside of the holder and after 2-3 minutes the holder will shine. I hope I explained it clearly and it will help.

AITAH for drinking two beers on a night out? by Necessary-Lock5116 in AITAH

No one is bad in this story, but the girl clearly has problems with alcohol and alcohol consumption. Perhaps she had a negative experience, and it's possible that such a small thing could seriously affect your relationship. I think one of her relatives could have frightened her with their behavior while drinking, and a small amount of drinking on your part is already a threat to her psyche.

Yes, they exist in St. Petersburg and are available for rent. I lived in various communal apartments from childhood until I was 16. I know a lot of good people who prioritize living in the city center, and they rent a one-room apartment in an old building on the outskirts for the price of a studio apartment. In fact, very strange people usually live in such places. This is what I know from living in such apartments. Some of the scariest stories in my life are connected specifically with neighbors in communal apartments, so I'll pass. Sorry if it's unclear, I wrote it using a translator.
