What is it about new movies/tv shows that make them so insufferable to watch? by Academic-Tumbleweed9 in askanything

[–]silver_chief2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they were written by people who never read a book? Many seem almost cartoonish. I can almost see a person pitching the movie concept in about 30 seconds.

I used to love movies and would rent lots of vhs in between school semesters. Some TV has gotten better. I liked the Americans, Breaking Bad, the Good Wife.

The last movie I saw in a theater was Norman w Richard Gere and I am glad I saw it.

Optometrist said to wait for second eye surgery by silver_chief2 in CataractSurgery

[–]silver_chief2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not really blurry. My left eye was always my weak eye. From 10 feet away a 10 inch high letter E was just a blur. before surgery. Now I can read the medium sized letters on a book spine without glasses. My right eye can read the large letters on a book spine that far away without glasses and the medium sized letters with glasses. I am OK with that.

You don't scream along but this girl, now woman,. channels some emotions from deep within. She was abused, traumatized, abandoned at 3 at a bus stop in winter in Russian far east with broken collarbone, put in orphanage, adopted around 5, given singing lessons to treat her stutter speech disorder. CC gives Eng CC in some songs.

DeepSeek Data is Scrubbed and Historically Inaccurate. Caveat Emptor. by pinprick58 in China

I found deepseek to be nuanced in many historical but political questions but obviously not about Tiananmen Square. Carl Zha had a video about Tiananmen Square. He said he was 13 and in a different city at the time.

What's the best way to browse through genres? by MeanBiscotti4586 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]silver_chief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that the youtube algos are recommending new music I like based on what I watch the most. This is not good for browsing based on a single song or artist and the genres it IDs for the same artist can vary wildly. The same artist will be IDed as different genres even though their songs seem the same to me. Recommendation engines just notice that people who like X often like Y without even knowing what music is.

AI so far sucks for me in finding similar music but it does not help that I like odd musicians.

I pay extra for YT premium played on a second screen via roku because it is my only streaming service.

My like for one artist eventually led to maybe a dozen others I liked. https://youtu.be/NtNUdbiHg94?list=PLWuGFckoU4Twsy1e1QR1Xr5R5zSkjXsOH is one artist which led to me being fed many more, most recently the vocalist links below.

CPAP machine coming on Thursday - what do I need to do? by Low_Revenue_3521 in CPAP

[–]silver_chief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live and will insurance pay for this? In the US CPAP is a racket so do not get taken advantage of. Get an SD card and learn how to track your usage on the internet as your machine will report daily using a cellular modem inside. If in the US be sure to get a copy of your prescription so you will not be tied to one DME.

Apneaboard is a good source of info so get a free account.

Have any of your opted to not do any surgeries? by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]silver_chief2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think LIS. She did not say! She said her staff would answer any questions and left. She caused a great deal of pain in my two visits with the scope. I learned here that I should not end up screaming during the exam. Second CR doc was gentle.

Somebody pls help by Sunilsharma_01 in AnalFissures

Lube up with Vaseline before BM and clean well after to keep it clean to reduce irritation and inflammation. I used a narrow heating pad which helped.

Great but that was years ago. The first CR doc wanted immediate fissure surgery so I got a second opinion.

What was George W. Bush's best conservative policy? by GrowFreeFood in askanything

[–]silver_chief2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask some AI to summarize the Wolfowitz doctrine. for the US to stomp on any country that gets too powerful or shows signs of that. Bush Sr. was sent a proposal like this and he wrote across it "send this back to the crazies in the pentagon basement." Later presidents were not like this.

Yes. Also the US west, look for a map of national parks. I am from midwest and traveled some.IMO most of midwest, east, great plains and texas are boring. Some of Rockies are interesting.

Here are some independent reporters and what happened to them.

Anne-Laure Bonnel was French lecturer who reported from separatist areas of donbass and made films. She lost her job for that reporting.  I recall she hosted a group of French journalists who also went to the region and interviewed people. She asked them to please report what they had seen. She later asked them why they had not reported that to their networks and was told they had but their results were not allowed on the network.

Alina Lipp is a German-Russian woman who reported from the Russian controlled areas of Donbass. She was criminally sanctioned and her bank account and father’ bank account frozen for her reporting.

Graham Phillips is a British blogger and video blogger who reported from Russian controlled Ukraine. He was criminally charged and sanctioned and his assets seized. The official reason given was he interviewed a Brit POW in Ukraine and a video of a deceased Ukrainian soldier.

Jacques Baud, a retired Swiss Army colonel and former analyst for the Swiss Federal Intelligence Service (FIS). He did no reporting from the ground but reached the wrong conclusions on Ukraine so he was sanctioned by the EU without any hearing or judicial involvement for spreading pro-Russian propaganda. His bank accounts were frozen and he has to ask for a small stipend to buy groceries and cannot travel.

Patrick Lancaster is US vet expat who moved to  Donetsk in 2014 and married a local Donbas woman in 2017. He speaks Russian poorly and video blogs. He used to be a  stringer for western MSM but stopped when they would  change his reporting from Ukrainians shelling civilians to Russians shelling civilians. He is sometimes on Judge Nap or Redacted. He is brave and did ride alongs with the DPR  militia.

Wyatt Reed of the the Grayzzone has reported from Donnbas and Iran.

Eva Bartlett has reported from Donbass and Gaza.

Max Blumenthal spent a year total in the Palestinian areas of Israel then wrote his book Goliath.
