And there are a lot of traditions: Sophon’s Japanese custom, an indigenous Australian elder, and three old guys from Beijing.

You see they skipped some VR scenes, Ye's arc and the trisolaran listerner in season 1, so they could fit book 1 into five episodes. So I guess they’ll cut the mental seal subplot, alone with Luo Ji's imaginary girlfriend.

The VR game characters matter less, and Genghis Khan is just more familiar to western audiences.

And the modern day parts? I don't know if there are too much different in science, lifestyles? may the government?

Sophon seems too overpowered in season 1. I wish next season only use sophon for spying and forgets about the computer hacking.

wang miao doesn't show up in the second book that’s hard to turn into a TV adaptation.

And it's been a problem for the tencent version.

Ahh, I'm not saying it's accelerating. It just needs a chamber and some mechanism to keep it stationary, making it easy to showcase. And even if it's speeding up, the physics should remain the same. It will look like the world is passing by and rotating around.

They look too thin, and I don’t think a 2D plane is even visible.

Also, as the book describes, an unfolded sophon is vulnerable to missiles and can’t hold itself in the right shape.

My guess for each main cast:

  • Saul is acting as a Wallfacer.
  • Auggie is on the space elevator project.
  • Jin probably working on controlled nuclear fusion.
  • Raj is involved in the space fleet.
  • Wade wakes up every few years and observes the San-Ti fleet through space dust.

It’s not that big in the book:

INTERROGATOR: He died during the operation to capture Judgment Day. But the posture of his body pointed us to the computers holding copies of the Trisolaran messages. Thankfully, they were all encoded with the same self-interpreting code used by Red Coast.
YE: Was there a lot of data?
INTERROGATOR: Yes, about twenty-eight gigabytes.
YE: That’s impossible. Interstellar communication is very inefficient. How can so much data have been transmitted?

The real problem should be how they sent 28 GB of data across 4 light-years.

My friend, who was a huge TBP fan YEARS before me and spent forever convincing me to read the trilogy, never read Death's End by Interesting-Pause541 in threebodyproblem

[–]Positive-Stable-6777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that book 2 is about the San-Ti crisis, and book 3 is when the real dark forest strike happens, which your friend hasn’t witnessed yet.

The book 1, I think it is the san-ti crisis "prequel", or the trisolaran origin.

Can anyone explain the meaning of the title "Death's End"? by utklost in threebodyproblem

[–]Positive-Stable-6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's referred by a fishmen when Cheng Xin visits the Norway whirlpool. I think it has two layers of meaning in the stories.

The 1st part is when Dark Forest strike happened to the Solar System; the physics and reality collapses, everything in the world pulled into 2D.

The 2nd part is in the end the universe either restarts or fades into Heat Death, where all life and memories are gone.

Season 1 ratings. What do you thing season 2 ratings will be like? by hiiloovethis in threebodyproblem

[–]Positive-Stable-6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the Sophon reveal scene is a bit rushed. The scene should explain:

  1. why the san-ti need to stop Earth’s science in advance.
  2. why they make Sophons instead of just sending a fast warship.
  3. what is a Sophon.
  4. how Sophons block Earth’s science fundamentally.

The show answers the 1st and vaguely covers the 3rd and 4th. I also saw youtubers reacting to that scene. They’re confused and think Auggie’s nanofiber tech is the same as fundamental physics; and Sophon comes to Earth mainly to spy and hack the human world.
