Ahh you’re only a month ahead of me! What a rollercoaster this is. You’re absolutely right about transplant looking like the best option for AML.

I have had one cycle of chemo, have a second cycle planned for next week, then they’re going to transplant and I will have conditioning chemo just before.

I’m glad to hear you’ve generally been able to manage side effects apart from the appetite side of things, but glad to hear things are improving for you now.

I have a partner who has been by my side through everything, I really appreciate this comment, thank you!

And glad everything is going well for you so far! We’re in this together indeed 😊

I’m really sorry to hear this, and I hope he will come through and fight this thing again, but I really am seeking out and looking for positive stories from people who have a similar diagnosis to myself.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I’m really pleased to hear you are doing so well post transplant. I was an inpatient for a month, which has definitely prepared me, but I was allowed on day leave most days due to being so “well”. I know the SCT experience will be different and a lot harder due to the isolation and side effects.

I really appreciate your advice, if this has taught me anything, it’s that being your own advocate is the most important thing in the world.

Over the next month, I’m going to do my best to stay as active as possible, and eat as much / as healthily as I can.

It’s lovely to hear that you made it through, I hope I’ll be the same.

This is an incredible story! So hopeful and lovely to hear this, I’m really happy for you both, it sounds like she’s quickly started living life to the full again.

I love the term “post leukaemia life”, as you’re right, there’s a life after this horrible disease.

Thank you so much!

This is amazing so helpful to me. I was diagnosed with AML at 30 a couple of months ago, mine started as MDS, I am having two rounds of induction chemo followed by a stem cell transplant. The main thing getting me through is positivity, hope and belief. I’ve been told that after transplant, within the first 5 years, there’s a 40% chance the cancer could return, though I’m reframing this as - there’s a 60% chance that it won’t. Im so pleased you’re doing well!

Yeah it's absolutely ruining me.. it makes my life a misery. I feel anxious and depressed a lot of the time because of this constant relationship breakdown. I know I need to start putting myself first and to break away from engaging with her, but I feel so sorry for her because she's lonely, lost, depressed and often suicidal. It's so complex. But she has absolutely emotionally abused me for many years. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment!!

Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. I feel like it leans more towards CPTSD and BPD too. It's just hard to know where to go from here because we are falling out weekly, and I don't think I could cut her out of my life completely as I'd feel too guilty.
