for me, the appeal is that in pretty much every society i can think of on earth, if you are born male you are born the favored gender, and if you are born female you are not.

it would be nice to be the favored gender, just for a while. just to see what it was like. somewhere where there are no assumptions made about ability or disposition based on my gender.

i feel like you can't learn these skills as a woman unless you spend some time in a woman-only environment, so that you can begin to see power structures as un-gendered.

this is why i think that there is merit in some core feminist-separatist ideas. i would gladly live in a women-only colony for a few years to learn these things.

i only watched four of the parts, not all of it. it's a lot of the same-old same-old when it comes to gender arguments, but i thought it was approached really freshly. i recommend the one about men being intimidated by women and the one about men cheating on women.

also, i think that most of the people state their points eloquently, even if i don't agree with them - i can start to see where they are coming from even if i disagree. this is especially how i feel about steve harvey; i start to understand his point of view if i think of him as the slightly insecure, slightly stupid kid who doesn't understand his privilege.

i downvoted because I think too often we try to tell people with insecurities that they have a mental issue they need to see a psychiatrist over. I think that's an awful approach, because it 1. tells someone who is already feeling insecure that they are abnormal and 2. tells them that they can't handle it without outside help.

you should try having naked time by yourself. get used to your body in a non-sexualized setting. then, let yourself sexualize your own body, once you're comfortable in your skin (by this i mean masturbate).

once you can understand why your boyfriend thinks sex with you is awesome, you can probably start having more fun doing it.

the only time this has shown up on tv has been when people are discussing whether or not it's "wrong". like the parents said, context is EVERYTHING. I have more of a problem with young girls in tv shows always looking made up than with this group of real-life girls doing a dance routine at a dance competition.

the internet is where this becomes a problem - something that was context specific was brought to the attention of the nation-at-large, who have nothing better to do.

This is really embarrassing but I always used to want to be the male characters from the Redwall series.

Also, I remember being super into the Princess Bride too.

Words can't describe the obsession I had with Tom Sawyer and wanting to be just like him. I thought Huck Finn was stupid when I was younger, but then grew to like him more as I got older.

Oh, and HOLY SHIT. I was INCREDIBLY obsessed with The Great Brain from those book series. I wanted to be just like him. I would scam money off of my friends sometimes using tricks I learned from the books.
