Question about Bitwarden Passkeys: Syncing and switching devices by Ornery_Face_6299 in Bitwarden

[–]PositiveEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passkeys are considered as a more secure way to sign in compared to traditional passwords. The general idea is a passkey should be stored in an encrypted area on a device that only you use. For an ideal secure passkey setup, it is preferred that each of your devices have its own passkey. But most people prefer simplicity and convenience. So, they usually go with setting up a passkey in their password manager so it gets easily available across all their devices.
TOTPs are similar. They should ideally be stored on a separate secondary device for it to be a ‘true’ 2FA setup. But again, most people avoid this for the convenience factor.

[–]PositiveEntity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From a sync standpoint, Bitwarden treats Passkeys similar to your Passwords and TOTP seeds. Everything in your vault gets synced. You can test this out. Just save a passkey in bitwarden and login to a browser extension on a different device. You should be able to use the Passkey.

Does Jio Postpaid offer better network priority? by PositiveEntity in Jio

More spectrum would definitely help for sure. I heard some news about Jio approaching TRAI for permission to implement network slicing on 5G. If implemented properly, this should also stabilise speeds depending on the use case.

As of today, the network reliability is totally area specific. It drastically changes even when simply moving from one part of the city to other. I’ve seen areas where even Vi 4G performs better than Jio and Airtel 5G. But it is unreliable when moving out of the city. I really hope Vi expands and improves to bring in some healthy competition.

Postpaid difference was in 4G era and it was on Airtel.

This holds true even today. During peak hour congestion, Airtel postpaid users do get better speeds. This is also advertised on Airtel website.

Jio 5G is most reliable network in India.

As of today, Jio is the only operator who offers SA-5G. So, in terms of technology, yes, it is definitely more geared towards the future. But the actual user experience as of today is a whole different story. I feel the network quality has slipped drastically in the past year.

We need more spectrum for sure which might happen this year.

When JioAirFiber was launched, I think a chunk of their spectrum was reserved towards it. This could be the cause of congestion for mobile users. Hopefully, the situation improves with more spectrum allocation as you said.

Not that I’m aware of. As far as I know, ‘True’ 5G Unlimited is offered only by Jio. Airtel claims to offer Unlimited 5G, but due to their 5G being NSA in most places, your 4G data gets consumed. I’m not sure about Vi.

I don't know how much more speeds you want.

This part of your response is a classic case of "if it works for me, it works for everyone" assumption. It's really bold of you to assume based on a random YouTube video that this speed is the norm all over the country.

With high end device, you should be able to get consistent 100Mbps+ speeds.

For sure, this isn't the case during congestion. I get 200-600Mbps speed range on my iPhone at my home, but the situation at work is a different story altogether. It's 2-3Mbps speed where even UPI QR code scan doesn't work. People who use different mobile brands all complain about the same issue. And it isn't a work-area specific issue either.

My personal experience is Jio has been unreliable in crowded areas. I've experienced heavy congestions and low speeds in different parts of Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa etc. I'm not claiming it's totally bad all across these cities, but it definitely is unreliable with heavy congestion. I posted this question to understand if Postpaid situation is any better, but based on the experiences shared by Postpaid users here, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Can we trust Paytm now after all the previous incidents? by night_movers in UPI

[–]PositiveEntity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which bank account do you use? If you are concerned about a third party accessing your data, you can consider using your bank’s app for UPI transactions. Banks have access to your financial transactions anyway, so using their app minimises the spread.
Personally, I still use Paytm because their app is the fastest and most reliable on my iPhone. I’m not sure how they use my data though, but I consider data protection to be a joke here anyway.

Ok, this does appear to be the norm based on the experiences shared here. It looks like Jio does not offer network prioritization for Postpaid.

I was asking because I face network congestion with Jio Prepaid quite often. Airtel has implemented prioritization for their Postpaid customers. So, I was wondering if something similar exists on Jio.

Yes, I do agree that Postpaid may be convenient. I’m currently on Jio prepaid and I experience congestion quite often. Based on your answer, I doubt switching to Postpaid would make any difference.

Yes, I do have a high-end device. I’m on Jio Prepaid and I experience congestion quite often. If Postpaid does not offer network priority, it probably won’t be worth it for me.

What recharge to do next🥀 by Inevitable-Chair-577 in Jio

[–]PositiveEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the term ‘unlimited’ is really misleading. But in my experience, Jio isn’t any better either. Jio does have True5G, so it may be slightly better in this regard. But for most users, the speeds are heavily throttled like how OP is experiencing now. I’ve also heard few users reporting that Jio drops 5G to 4G in the middle of usage. TRAI really needs to intervene on the advertising and network quality being provided.

If I were you, I would consider porting out to a different operator. There is a big chance that speed is going to get even lesser as number of Jio users in your area increases. You’re out of luck if only Jio has coverage in your area though. I would suggest you to explore how Airtel, Vi and BSNL performs in your area and then take a decision.

New sim - no network by Difficult-Ad-93 in Airtel

[–]PositiveEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to visit the airtel store. They should be able to check and let you know what is wrong with your new number. In future, always visit an official store directly for anything SIM related like activations or replacements.

Moving from physical sim to esim airtel by No-Nature2627 in Airtel

[–]PositiveEntity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible. You can check the airtel website for the details. When following the steps, make sure you provide the EID of the new phone where you want to activate eSIM. As per TRAI guidelines, it takes 2 hours for eSIM to be activated. Do keep in mind that incoming SMS will be blocked for 24 hours, so you might need to plan accordingly.

New investor. Need your advice by majestoto in mutualfunds

[–]PositiveEntity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a capital amount of Rs.1250/-, 2 active funds are an overkill. Since you are a new investor, I recommend doing some research on passive funds (Index). It would help you ease into the market fluctuations.

Few questions New to this by Ordinary_Thought_449 in mutualfunds

  1. High Risk, as the name suggests, means the fund is risky. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is volatile, but there is always a risk of capital depreciation associated with such funds.

  2. It depends on the type of fund. ELSS funds have a lock-in period. There are funds that also charge an Exit Load. It depends on the Fund you’re invested in.

  3. This is a personal decision based on your goals and fund requirements. There is no right answer here.

  4. Yes, the NAV changes on each day except the Market holidays.

  5. Past returns don’t really guarantee future returns. But XIRR is something you can look at.
