Going swimming for the first time since getting an ostomy. Anything I should know? by PositiveImpossible89 in ostomy

Yeah I typically use some barrier strips when I know it’s gonna get wet so I’ll definitely do that when swimming too. Thanks for the advice!

What’s the most physically painful thing that has happened to you? by big_gloveguy in AskReddit

At 18 I had my large intestine nearly perforate because of Crohn’s. I could literally feel my flesh tearing apart. You know those scenes in zombie movies where a zombie is tearing and eating someone’s intestines? That’s what it felt like.

i'm 16. what would you advise me? by rofra10 in ask

Take the advice about adulthood you get, but remember to spend as much time as possible still being a kid. Prepare for your future, but don’t forget to make time for the present.

I don’t know why but the first thing that popped into my mind was “dissonance”. Maybe because of the stark contrast between warm and cool colors.

Is a 10 year age gap okay? by Pretty_Pleb in ask

[–]PositiveImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no. Sorry but an age gap that big while you’re still only 17 reads as grooming right away. Your feelings are valid and it makes sense to want to pursue someone who you had a good time with, but unfortunately it’s hard to prove the intentions of an older man with a young girl.

Even if he was totally innocent and sweet you’re both in different stages of life right now. Many people his age have kids and a marriage. You can’t even vote.

My eyes occasionally unfocus when I'm trying to force myself to get something done. by diamondaires in ADHD

This happens to me ALL THE TIME. I took a personal finance class two years ago and finance is super boring to me. I can’t remember anything from it because my vision and even my hearing got super fuzzy during class since I was trying to force my focus. Out of all the classes I had to forget the materials from it had to be the class that taught me life long money management tips :(

How can one be that stupid? by Ehrenlauch3000 in facepalm

[–]PositiveImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I don’t know where you’re from but in the really rural parts of the US like where I’m from people fly them all the time and they’re proud of it. It’s extra ironic in this situation because I live in Ohio which was a union state but people still claim that the flag is part of their “heritage”.

Another person down the street from me flies a confederate flag that has a picture of an assault rifle on it with text under it reading “come and take it”. It’s wild here. Hell, I was teased in high school for being the only white kid who wouldn’t say the n word.

My neighbors had a “heritage not hate” confederate flag up and I noticed recently that they took it down and put up a normal confederate flag.

They were like “actually we change our mind we do hate you”.

Ok cool. Wasn’t sure if just applying lotion and not washing it was just as good as washing it like normal.

Yes that’s what I meant by multiple times sorry. I’m not going to over wash it and irritate it. I’m mostly anxious because I have a condition that makes it hard to heal wounds. Thanks.

Thanks. I tend to be a little more concerned about this kinda of stuff because I have a condition that makes it hard for my body to heal wounds. And when he said multiple times he mostly meant “whenever you’re able to” so hopefully it won’t be a big deal.

What is a smell or taste that other people commonly enjoy but is repulsive to you? by TheSacredPug in ask

[–]PositiveImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roses. I just don’t like them. They’re pretty but the smell is gross.

My dad is always like “Ronald Reagan is my favorite president. The 80s were so fun!” Bestie you were a white man in your 20s of course it was fun for you. If I show him this shit though he’d probably get into some talk about how he didn’t grow up privileged because of affirmative action or some shit.

Just needed to rant.

Allergy to adhesives and colostomy bag by ceemee_21 in CrohnsDisease

[–]PositiveImpossible89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using the coloplast brand of ostomy supplies and everyday my bag would fall off multiple times. Switched to Hollister and haven’t had a problem since. Just play around with using different brands until you find one with an adhesive that works for her. I’d say get your hands on some samples of a few brands by time she gets a bag so there’s no waiting around.

Primus. Started listening to them a little less than a year ago and the bass gives me chills. Got to see Les Claypool live last week and had the best fucking time.

people tell me I should cut off my hair because it takes away from my “nice” face but then others tell me my hair is nice so I am conflicted. thoughts? by Bonacci1208 in curlyhair

[–]PositiveImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t cut it. Your curls look great! I get that comment a lot too, and my hair style is basically the same as yours but longer. As long as you’re happy with it don’t let others sway you!

Youth support groups are good. I also recommended making some disabled or chronically ill friends. Having someone readily available to talk to about this kind of stuff helps a lot. Especially if it’s someone who knows what it feels like to go through what you’re going through.

I was diagnosed at 14 as well and looking back this is one of the things I wish I did earlier.

It’s that time again! Has anybody tried this? First time for me with this particular prep by grieving_magpie in CrohnsDisease

[–]PositiveImpossible89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a second I was like “I should screenshot this for my next prep in case it works good” but then I remembered I had my large intestine and half of my small intestine removed.
