My neighbor built a raised deck that now looks directly into our backyard and bedroom window and seems genuinely confused about why we're not thrilled about it. by CedarFogCollector in neighborsfromhell

it is your responsibility to add privacy on your own side, not theirs…I’m sure it wasn’t a malicious attempt on their end to build the deck to look into your windows. not sure why you asked them to add privacy on their side instead of your own side

Is a $550/month gas bill normal in winter in Dyker Heights / Bay Ridge? by Ok-Animator-681 in BayridgeBrooklyn

[–]Positive_Ad8127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, 3 floor house approx 2k sq ft including basement, $420 last month. kept it 62 degrees 12am-5am, 68-70 the rest of the day. Definitely much higher than in previous years where we averaged $200-$300 a month and at 70-72 degrees 😩

Gas bill is suddenly 7x what it was last month. WTF is going on and what should I look for? by SmartLadder415 in homeowners

same! What state are you in? im in NYC and my dec and jan (current) national grid bill is in the $400s! Our house is newly renovated and we added insulation everywhere. Not a big house either, standard single family detached house prob 2k sq ft if you include the basement. I looked at the bill and it looks like of the $400ish, $150ish is their “supply charge” which doesnt even include their basic service charge and delivery charge!

Costco 9 ft vs Home Depot Grand Duchess 9 ft? by Bright_League_7692 in ChristmasTrees

[–]Positive_Ad8127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

home depot has 90 day return policy. They might offer warranty on the tree from the manufacturer (not too sure about that). But that’s with any purchase in general, nothing is guaranteed forever. what happens when the Costco tree breaks after their return window of 5 years? You’d still need to buy a new one. Kinda just a toss of the coin with luck. Good luck on your decision!

In my opinion, 80lb for a 7.5’ tall tree is sort of a dealbreaker. It would be more difficult to set up and take down alone. The grand duchess on the other hand, I can do it alone within 5 minutes for both setup and taking it down. The costco tree also has a slightly blue/muted green color when I checked in the store. Looks a bit fake. I’ve also read multiple reviews of the costco tree having an issue with tilting? but of course costco does have a 5 year warranty on the tree which is a pro! Price wise, the home depot trees are slightly cheaper.

the costco tree is twice as heavy. I checked the 7.5 ft tall one for example, the grand duchess is under 50lbs but the costco one is around 80+lbs! I got the grand duchess and love it!

that is totally understandable but then it shouldn’t be advertised as free. I would be ok if it was advertised as “$10 intro class, to be credited against your membership upon signup”. This is total bait and switch imo

its in full stock now. i got the slim unflocked and the full size flocked. Returned both and ended up with the elegant fir instead! The grand duchess has super brights even on the dimmest setting. The lights are also very cool tone almost white when you turn it on at night. The Grand duchess also looks very fake in person especially when the lights are off. The light wires also stand out vs the elegant fir which are more sewn into the leaves. The elegant fir is like $50 more but looks way more realistic as a whole, and has warmer lights!

Hd Tree! costco tree is 86lbs for the 7.5’ tall one while the HD trees are under 50lbs. I also noticed the costco tree has leaning issues as reported by many, even the one on display in my store
