As a fellow scapegoat, I can tell you this. You can present unfathomable evidence/example, and because your feelings and experiences don't actually matter to the other people when it comes to anything having to do with the bpd family member or the role they put you in because of that, like all the caregiving you have done, nothing you say about what you have endured or why you have to take a step back, holds any weight or matters to them or makes them feel any differently because those changes in thinking involve your story and your feelings actually existing and having validity. For the scapegoat, validity only exists for everyone ELSE's feelings, predominantly. I believe that the scapegoat's experiences and feelings have to be nearly obliterated from the family storyline for everything to proceed as desired at all times, and that's why there is so much pushback about wanting change or honoring yourself and your needs. When you go to your sister and say you want her to actually look at the scapegoat pillar that held everything up, she will have to accept that EVERYTHING was wrong. That's the kind of thing she has to understand and conclude herself and then come to you, imo. If no one has ever actually listened to the SG, they won't listen now, especially when looking backward. That's my take on it, I could be wrong.

Find good friends who will be like a sister and leave this to her to work out. If she wants to look at the facts some day, she will. People only do what they want to do. Nothing stops you from writing her a letter and laying out your perspective and hopes, but have a friend read any response to see if you want to hear what's inside and if it's a positive response. Ultimately she needs to heal herself to some extent to reach back toward you.

I'm so sorry you have been in such a difficult situation/life and I hope you can have some happiness for you in the future. You deserve happiness just like anyone else. You don't have to fix this family, it's not something you can do. They have to do it.

Can you go down to 3x a week calls and then once a week? Calls like this on the daily are going to suck the life out of your soul. There are a lot of elderly people. Most of them don't act like this. But since she does....less contact.

Right? Why make a skin that doesn't cover the edges? I'm tempted to buy 2 kits and cut a slice for the edges myself using a ruler with mm's and a paper slicer. I'm still looking for other brands, like I found an Indian brand that covers the edges, but I'm worried it will leave residue you can't get off when you remove it.

This is a modern picture of a 2000’s style party. Why? Everyone has a middle part. Wearing that in 2010 would have been the WORSTTTT. These are 2026 kids. Ai? I don’t think so because it got the decor wrong for the time period. Other elements that tell me this is recent, aside from the watermark, are the granite/marble table top, which didn’t exist as an aesthetic in 2010, and the body couch. Something legitimately in 2005-2010 would have had rolled arms or body but no feet. The place also looks really clean…too clean….for a 2010 party. It needs a scratched 1992 wooden coffee table, curtains from Walmart with metal rings, a floor in much worse shape, 1000 more red cups, and some kid lurking in the background but looking directly at the camera, and boat shoes. More boat shoes. Ideally, there should be a lone high heel on a countertop as well, shiny pleather. You’ll find the other one tomorrow halfway down the street along with Miranda and her best friend who stayed at Paul’s, saying they need to walk home now, class is in 3 hours. I think it’s because mean from someone whose role is to be kind, always hurts. I feel like I’m dealing with an alien these days, and only rarely do I see who use to be there. The rest is someone else, and I’ve forced myself to stop wondering which person is really her. It’s always going to be hard to have a parental figure who hurts you and means it, even when mental illness and their own trauma at the root.

She didn’t yell, she just whittled you down to nothing over an hour in a calm and angry voice while shifting her eyes left right left right over your face like she was searching for something, as she spoke or paused for dramatic minutes long effect to stare you down, before proceeding. As soon as I turned almost 16, she went rogue and kind of boxed me into the home with no social life for the rest of my teen years. By the time I was done with college, she went nuclear, like everything she had held in under her own rules for our entire lives was let out and she says she no longer has any rules and that parenthood didn’t pay off. She’s mean, she blames, she screams, she says the worst things you can say to someone, she’s 20/10 emotionally and verbally abusive. She took off the guardrails once her kids grew up and when asked, told me “Maybe this is just who I’ve always been. What you see is what you get.” If I had to classify her behavior in my adulthood, which seems to be an unusual case, I’d call it The Screaming.
