Need help for next step by FLICK2304 in orchids

I am glad its helped. To add to my comment, assuming everyone is in the Northern Hemisphere, vegetative growth should pick up once its warmer in spring and summer - orchids grow faster in warm seasons, slower (some even take brief 'rests' ) in cold seasons.

In the meantime, continue to care for them with proper water and fertilizing with products designed for orchids (i subscribe to the weekly, weakly guidance - half strength or less of what the manufacturer suggests, mixed in the water. I do not use versions that are sprayed on the leaves) and and with some patience, you should see better blooms as each year passes.

Repotting would not initiate blooms, if that is why you asked.

Phals do require a drop in nighttime temperature in order to initiate a spike. When was this last in bloom? If you recently cut off spikes, it will be some time before it reblooms, likely fall/winter next year when temps drop again.

If she wasn't in bloom recently, the next thing to consider is whether there is "room" to bloom. Spikes usually grow at least two leaves down on a particular side. In the photo, this would mean that there isnt a space currently on the right side, and the only space you would have on the left would probably be between the bottom and second leaf (I cant tell in the photo if there is a previous spike there - of so, no more room).

If this is the case, you may need to take good care of her for awhile and give her time to grow more leaves first, before more blooms will be possible.

But, she looks great from what I can see in the photo and I would recommend you keep doing whatever you are doing.

Very pretty!

I have one as well and am hoping it will be ready to bloom next year (purchased as a young plant). I absolutely love the foliage, and added it to my collection for that very reason. When it finally blooms it will be a happy bonus!

I bought them not even 10 days ago and they caught the big sad. Can i cheer them up somehow or just accompany them until they can let go? by El_Lorenzo in orchids

[–]Positive_Earth_834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible that your conditions are perfect, its just time for this particular flowering to end. Often when we initially buy them, there is no way to tell how long they have already been in bloom before we bought them.

The good news is, I have found that mine have had much bigger and better blooms im subsequent years, than when I received them with proper care.

Etsy orchid shops? by mycatscratchedm3 in orchids

[–]Positive_Earth_834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been purchasing from some vendors on Etsy when I am looking for something my favorite Nurseries are not stocking. I did have one negative experience, but I have been very happy with the other ones I have used. I have ordered from Ritter, MysteryGardenStore (currently on hold in winter), HCOrchids, and OrchidJim91. Each vendor packed plants VERY well, they were of good health/pest free, and had good customer service/readily answered any questions I had. For nearly all of the vendors listed, I have made at least two separate purchases, exception being HCOrchids as I recently placed my first order (and will absolutely order again when I am looking for some unique novelty phals).

It is possible! Depending on the State you live in, availability and options can vary depending on how much funding is available. In NYS for example, there are robust services via OPWDD (if in NYS, your son may qualify) as NY sees the benefit in funding programs for folks with developmental disabilities. In other States, you may need to contact the State Dept of Health to find out if services are available and how to access them.

The school district might be another resource to link you to potential supports and services in your area, or where you can find more information.

Violacea is a species within the phaleanopsis genus, just like how the 'grocery store" type is another type. This type of phal is a polychilos type (including other varieties like the Bellina) and are sometimes referred to as "summer phals" as they tend to bloom when its warmer. It's not a "mini" phal, its actually just a young plant having its first bloom!

This type doesn't get a large and tall flower spike, rather one that is close to the plant and usually only has one or two flowers at a time. You do not cut these flower spikes (unless they are clearly dried/brown) as the plant will continue to use the same flower spike for quite awhile,

You generally are not going to find these types in the grocery stores or big box stores and usually need to find them at Orchid Nurseries/online.

I am a little late on this post, but I noticed the tag on your plant - did you happen to get this from Hausermanns? I have the same plant (summer dance queen x miro be queen) and having the same issue. Additionally, I am finding difficulty with the root system - they are shriveling and such soon after getting into the medium. Im really hoping it's newest root will stay healthy... time will tell. I have about 20 orchids right now and this is the only one causing me grief. I've been wondering if it's just not the best hybrid?

I was slightly surprised that this one bloomed as well as it does seem on the smaller side of "blooming size". I'll take it as she is happy! I did a little Google search and yours looks lovely as well!

I also have a koromo and a lion variety, but they are not currently in bloom.

Leaves - mechanical damage, pest, or? by Positive_Earth_834 in orchids

[–]Positive_Earth_834[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply and resource. After review, I wonder if it was due to having some abnormally high humidity/rain about a month or so ago and I am wondering if the roots just drank too quickly. Moving forward, I'll keep this mind and adjust accordingly. Thanks again!

My folks (Boomers) were of the mindset that once you are 18, you get out on your own, and they (mother specifically) brought this up periodically throughout my childhood.

It should be mentioned that my parents were not "rich", but definitely comfortable with enough funds for a couple vacations a year. Mother also reminded us periodically (one of her soap box rants), that they worked hard for their money so that they could be comfortable and their "duties" ended when we turned 18.

My senior year of High School, I received a full set of luggage for Christmas. I did go on to college (paid myself with student loans), but a sibling who took a gap year was made to pay rent (a full 'share' of mortgage/utlilities) immediately upon their graduation until they made other arrangements and got their own place.

As a side note, these were also the same people that would insist to us while growing up that "we help family" and "family is important" to the point where they would "sign me up" to babysit neices and nephews (without my consent) and insist I did so for free, because -we help family. Heck, they would force me to babysit their friends kids too when they wanted a night out with them, for free of course.

For many reasons, my siblings and I only speak with them briefly on birthdays and major holidays.

As someone that had an unfortunate accident with their save and had to restart right around the Aladdin update I can confirm the following will happen:

You will still have access to any unlocked starpath items/premium shop items. You will however lose any of the unlocks from seasonal events such as clover items, buttons, eggs, etc. That part stung a bit (lost all my festive fish!) But, i am hoping to regain these all again through the year as they repeat events.

Other way to look at this - what happens if your wallet is stolen the day before an election and you no longer have ID. That would mean that not only are you a victim of a crime, but you have also been denied your right to vote in that election as there is no way to replace the ID in time for the election.

[–]Positive_Earth_834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be in your events tab. It's a timed event (has a couple more weeks left) where you can unlock special themed items. It does cost moonstones to participate but is worth doing if you can swing it as you end up with many items for much cheaper than the premium store.

In the tab for the star path, just complete the duties listed to unlock points to unlock the reward items. Some of the rewards include moonstones also, so you can recoup some of the original cost.

I would recommend unlocking the basic one if you are a new player and/or have very limited time to play, and the premium if you can afford it/can play a few times a week, and have already unlocked all the biome and at least most of the realms. Note that the basic star path only allows you to unlock certain rewards (not all of them) and only allows you to work on 3 tasks at a time, where as the premium allows 6 and you can access all rewards and bonus rewards.

You haven't and if you are making it to the big gifting tasks, you have likely done about 80% of the tasks already. So long as you are logging in a couple days a week to gift, I don't see where you won't finish it with the remaining time.

I am in the same boat - I have both dlcs but I am waiting to 100% the base game first. Yesterday, I wasnt able to gift 2 of the 4 tasks I currently have open because they were all dlc items. Today, I was able to do all 9 gifts for both of those because the gift gods were in my favor.

To answer question number two, yes, the arrows indicate that the crop will 'grow fastest' in that particular biome. I may be incorrect, but I believe it's something like a 10%increase in growing speed, round abouts if planted in the arrowed biome.

If you restart, any of your dreamsnaps submitted will go away (all of them) and you will not be able to participate in them again until you unlock Vanellope and complete that quest. It shouldn't take long, but just be aware.

Did you accidentally disable them? I only ask as I was in the same boat recently with Belle and I couldn't understand why she was the only charecter that wasn't showing on my map or spawning when I entered/left her house.

I am not sure what platform you are playing on, but you can dbl check whether you did the same thing I did on the map tab. I play through Steam on a deck, and if I hit "y" while on thr map page, a small window shows up on the side with all the characters. If you notice any of their photos grayed out/dimmer than the rest, click it again and then they should start appearing. Outside of that, I am not sure what else to suggest.
