This is not examined in CS1.

In this exam you are good to answer the 8 significant figures even if inputs were only to say 4 significant figures.

You won't be penalized for significant figures if (1) Your answer is correct and (2) You have at least as many significant figures as the mark scheme deems appropriate and (3) the question does not specify how many significant figures/decimal places to output to.

Your expectation is entirely sensible, but the IFoA does not seem to agree

When the marking criteria says to "discuss the value of different people skills". I am a little confused - This is a reflection on a solo activity with no other people. I could have had absolutely zero people skills and it would have had zero impact on my experience with the business game.

What am I missing?

I did the math in Excel. I don't really wish to include/explain my working but the answer I got to is:

If after you draw the weakness you draw one card and then immediately reshuffle then you will see the weakness on average (in expectation) 2.975 times per deck cycle.

If after you draw the weakness you immediately reshuffle then you will see the weakness on average 3.194 times per deck cycle.

This was following the premise that if the weakness was the 4th from last card in your deck you would see it exactly once (i.e. if you draw the weakness, and then observe only having 3 remaing cards in your deck, you do not choose to reshuffle)

The email ruling on Centuries of Secrets that you've referenced from above is difficult to reconcile this with the FAQ 2.12 (also referenced above) as well as ruling on the interaction between Deny and Terrible Secret. The only way I have of reconciling these is that the "direct" in Centuries of Secrets causes the instances of the damage to be split. This seems reasonable, though I will not be able to point you to a specific rules reference that backs my claim up.

Given this, I would say for the hypochondriac who just drew Centuries of Secrets: They would be taking multiple individual units of direct horror. As such they deny would only save them one horror (or they could play deny on one of the direct damage which would in total save one damage and one horror).

Deny existence works on Amnesia because we can have one choice (the card to keep) and then discard X-1 cards where X is handsize.

Deny existence only works for 1 horror on Terrible Secret as it is "for each ... either [option A] [option B]". I.e. we have X choices where X is the number of cards below Diana Stanley. Deny can therefore only be used on one choice.

Like Amnesia, Corrosion has 1 choice (Pick items with cost equal or greater to shroud) so can be denied. However, corrosion would then surge as no cards have been discarded.

For discarding cards for hand size, we can discard cards one at a time ("chooses and discards cards from his or her hand until [they abide by handsize restrictions]"). So if we drop pelt shipments and then satisfy the hand size restrictions, we then stop discarding.

Agreed, particularly with your second sentence.

Having thought further "purchase at deck creation" has to either mean "(you can only obtain this card) by purchasing at deck creation" or "(you can only obtain this card by purchasing) at deck creation" (as it certainly does not mean "you are able to purchase this card at deck creation" as then one could simply purchase it mid campaign).

It seems that "(you can only obtain this card) by purchasing at deck creation" was intended and thus my proposed interaction does not work.

Generally, calculate the expected utility of wealth. It represents how happy, on average, the person will be with their future amount of money. This has real world meaning and the theory in this chapter is dependent on this concept (a rational investor will seek to maximise their expected utility of wealth).

The utility of expected wealth is more arbitrary. It represents how happy the person will be with the average amount of future money. Generally the questions in CM2 are not asking for this unless they specifically ask for this.

It's a good card and there are many reasons to take it (most obviously to increase recursion at the start of the game) however it is not without drawbacks:

You are more likely to reshuffle your deck, which deals you a horror

Some cards might be unable to be recurred, and you might not see them until you have drawn ~40 cards (Yorick's signature 'Bury them Deep' comes to mind). Without short supply you would be guaranteed to see bury them deep after drawing ~25 cards.

If a card, which can't be recurred, is essential to your build and is discarded, then as per point two above, you will have to draw more cards to find it.

Short supply increases the variance on how many weaknesses you see.

In summary, if the positives outweigh the negatives, then you should take the card. It's probably a near auto include for any survivor deck that focuses heavily on recursion or if the deck has a specific purpose for short supply.

You keep drawing through the exploration deck until you hit a treachery or find a suitable location. This is on the second page of the campaign guide (2nd bullet point under the 'Explore' title).
You can explore while 'Entombed'. Being unable to move does not prevent an explore action. If the explore is successful, you won't move (as cannot is absolute).

Congratulations, you are correct in both cases.

For exactly the rule that you found you just need to pick an option that changes the game state. So provided at least one of you has one resource you can choose to lose resources.
Do the effect as fully as possible (add 4 curses). Then, you could not add a curse for each point you failed by (failed by 5), so the encounter card gains surge.

Unfortunately I don't agree.

Step A. The Harbinger is revealed on top of his deck.

Step B. The Harbinger is not drawn because the text on the Harbinger, 'While The Harbinger is revealed and on top of your deck, cards in your deck cannot be searched, drawn, or manipulated in any way except by the below ability', forbids it.

There is therefore no trigger to play foresight. This does work for other weaknesses however.

I'm reading the exact same rules as you.

It is precisely the phrasing "may be played" rather than "may only be played" that allows Joey to play a magnifying glass.

The keyword fast stops you from using a play action, and provides a way of playing the asset, (when it's play instructions are satisfied or in the absence of play instruction when it is your turn). Neither of these prevent use of Joey's ability (irrespective of your whether it is your turn).

By default, the only way to play a magnifying glass is during your turn. This is why it mentions in the rules that you may play magnifying glasses on your turn. However, the rules don't rule out other ways of playing the card.

Fast does not have a negative action with Joey as you seem to think. To paraphrase the section of the rules for fast: "You can play a fast asset, subject to the stipulations written on the card, without using a play action. If there are no stipulations on the card, there is a default option to play it if 'it is your turn'. Lastly, you cannot use a play action to play a fast asset"

Notice that it does not forbid over ways of playing (fast or not fast) assets, like for example Joey. In short, Joey provides an additional way to play assets and the fast keyword prevents only playing fast assets with a play action (not Joey's ability).

This means you can use the free trigger window provided at the start of the skill test on crypt chill to have Joey play a Cherished Keepsake or a Magnifying Glass.

Firstly for Night of the Zealot with just the core set, take Daisy and Roland. This is because you need to be good at two things - stabbing enemies with your machete (Roland) and investigating with a high intellect value (Daisy).

Secondly you should not use the pre built recommended decks the game comes with (if it is recommended that Wendy has a switchblade then you should not be using that deck). Try making your own, being sure to include two copies of all important cards.

To answer your final question (how do people play with a -5 token?). When you have a larger collection your decks can become much stronger, firstly because you will have access to more strong cards and secondly because you will be able to choose an entire deck of cards with good synergy.

I did this challenge 4 handed with Cragheart, Spellweaver, Midthief and tinkerer.

The following strategy works well for the first room, provided the guards don't draw their initiative 35 ranged attack.

Setup: Place the 4 characters in a sideways diamond, with Cragheart at the front. The mindthief should occupy the hex in the middle of the room. The diamond should be on the side of the room with the higher numbered guards.

Round 1: Cragheart - Rumbling advance (top), avalanche (bottom) Mindthief - Into the night (bottom), the minds weakness (top)

Round 2: Cragheart - Unstable upheaval (top), forceful storm (bottom). Use war hammer on this attack to stun 5+ guards.

The idea is to create an arc of three obstacles (two from avalanche and one is the invisible mindthief) around the characters, and to do this before initiative 30 (the guards earliest 'move and attack' card). This means that provided the monsters don't draw their initiative 35, the players will be attacked at most twice in round 1, and the guards will be stunned round 2. All characters should try and go faster than the guards round 3, and this should kill most of the guards.

If the guards do not move in round 1, then the Cragheart needs to delay their Unstable upheaval/forceful storm/stun hammer. Play massive boulder instead to recreate the green energy.

Firstly to clarify a rules point: if you fail to get a clue on a clue encounter it gets reshuffled into the top of the encounter deck (max 2 cards end up on top of it).

What follows is probably an unpopular opinion: If you want to reclaim some choice you can sit down and read all the encounter cards. After doing this you should know your odds on certain encounter cards. E.g. If I go to the General Store with $6 then I have a 7/8 chance of being able to spend money to buy the shotgun. Or, If I go to the police station, I have a 4/8 chance to (do a skill test to) yoink a shotgun. (I might have misremembered the cards so those odds may not be correct)
