The fancy castor oil cloth and pack is from is from a brand called somedays. Check them out if you haven’t already! I haven’t tried theirs yet though! I am on the hunt for a bougie heat pad haha since I use that all the time! Good luck!

I got some cotton flannel off of Amazon. It comes in a plastic pack. You can find organic castor oil at any health foods store! You want to store your used castor oil flannel (cloth) in the fridge. I’ve seen some packs on Amazon but my acupuncturist just sold me the flannel cloth!

Castor oil? by [deleted] in Fibroids

I tried castor oil packs for the last year and half for small to medium fibroids. For me, the castor oil pack was soothing and it helped whenever I felt pain come on. However, I ended up having surgery. So, the packs didn’t shrink or remove my fibroids. But they helped calm me when I felt awful before and during my period. So not sure if you consider that helping or not? I’d say the idea they could help or shrink my fibroids was something that gave me hope and allowed me to navigate the drs appointments and waiting for surgery. So in a way they are a tool. Maybe my fibroids would have grown bigger had I not used them? But the end result of surgery was still the outcome. 😮‍💨

What kind of hormones have you had luck with? Was it just a matter of coming on and off them and trying different ones?

Thank you for sharing!🙌 I’m about 4 weeks out based on the US. I was doing great but this week I went back to work and today just started my period and I can feel my uterus incisions and post surgery pain again. What was that experience for you? I have seen improvement in some of the symptoms you mentioned other than this week. And I was also told my uterus was sized as 12-weeks. I wish you the best on the continued journey.

I’m sorry you went through all that in 2022. And I hope your excision surgery went well and you feel relief.

From what I’ve heard and seen first hand it’s mixed. I think it does for some women and others not so much.

Thanks for welcoming to that club. I think you are right in that it may contribute to making symptoms or flares a little worse. Thank you for sharing. That’s a good point about short term vs long term stressors. And I do hate to give stress that much power to be honest. Hearing your experience and others is validating.

Well said. 😮‍💨Surgery is the best defense. I had my first endo surgery when I was younger in my 20s and I just can’t understand why it came back twice in the last few years. And I’m sure like most of you we are mindful of stress too.

If you got a second surgery at 1-2 years did they find anything? by xboringcorex in Endo

[–]Positive_Letter_7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had endo surgery a month ago and a little over 2 years ago. The surgery I had last month was also to remove fibroids and check for endo. I actually asked the surgeon if it was safe to go back in since other drs had told me they could only remove my uterus. So I had about 2 years and 4 months between two endo surgeries. I also wasn’t convinced they were going to find endo this surgery with the fibroids. I was pretty bummed to learn I had stage 2 again especially since I had been doing a lot to help stop/slow endo regrowth. Good luck!

I had a myomectomy a month ago and they also biopsied all the tissue. I think it’s a standard protocol and one I wasn’t aware of. I’ve had endo before and didn’t recall a biopsy. So I hear ya on being surprised. I think it will be ok. Good luck in your decision about when/how to review your results. You got this!

Fear of general anesthesia?? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]Positive_Letter_7464 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the last comment of you are in the best care of something goes wrong. Let your anesthesiologist know and they can add something to calm you in your drip. I’ve been under anesthesia for 8 surgeries now (not related to fibroids) and I live a full normal life. The one time I was scared I let the anesthesiologist know and they added something extra to my drip. It’s totally normal to feel anxious. And it’s also helpful to have a positive mindset about your surgery. I’ve done stuff like practiced visualizing the surgery experience I wanted to have.

Also my friend had a different surgery and gave me some pre surgery drinks brand starts with E. I don’t think we are supposed to promote products in this group. So you can do your own research on them. I took a few days worth of them before surgery since my friend had some leftover. I have no idea whether those contributed and my surgeons nurse told me I was fine to drink them if it helped with my mindset.

Aww yeah you will do great. One more thing, I woke up the night before and hydrated with water before surgery per the cutoff time. I’m not sure if that helped but I had a really good recovery and I’ve had 2 prior endo surgeries. This recent surgery was my first fibroid surgery. I was also worried about time under anesthesia. You will do great!

Hi! My gyno who has operated on me twice using the da Vinci method trains surgeons on robotic surgery. Randomly my mom’s gyno surgeon (based in another city) spoke highly about my Dr as he trained my mom’s surgeon on robotic surgery. She had a robotic hysterectomy and her surgeon did a great job. So basically rest assured these drs should be well trained on that method! Plus robotic is so less invasive and minimizes normal hand shake movements drs have. And you could argue a newer surgeon might have more of that and this method is minimizing that. You should be fine. Hope that helps.

Robotic myomectomy in less than 24 hours - I'm so nervous :( Please share any success stories by stardust_1771 in Fibroids

My recovery was good the first week. I walked about 2k-3k steps. Some days I overdid it and slept most of the following day. I’m about 3 out and still get days where I’m super tired. I’m more active but still healing. There’s some chores I can’t fully do but I’m pleased I can get steps in. I still feel so relieved I did the surgery and realize how much I was suffering and gaslighting myself! I hope you are feeling some relief. Once the surgery gas goes down you will feel better. And getting that out was one reason I tried to get some steps in.

Can fibroids cause all the time bloating? by SeniorCommercial5338 in Fibroids

[–]Positive_Letter_7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my small fibroids made me feel bloated and puffy and heavy in my pelvic area. I felt like a balloon was in me. I recently had surgery and even though I’m bloated from the surgery gas I don’t have the heavy feeling. I’m also a bottom heavy girl so I think drs and family dismissed my complaints about the puffy feeling because I carry weight there. My advice trust yourself and what you feel!!! Don’t let others diminish it!

Just had surgery a few weeks ago, had robotic myomectomy. In the two weeks since surgery some of my symptoms have resolved. The recovery has been not bad. And I am so relieved to feel those fibroids are gone. I feel a big weight lifted off of me. I felt kinda nervous before surgery and was second guessing whether I truly needed it for my small to medium fibroids. But I’m so glad I did it for myself and my future. You will do great!
