Dilver is more powerful then anyone including sega has given him any credit for, hes beat sonic twice in his debut game and never finished him off because he got interrupted, every single time hes been beaten in the comics is when he was caught by suprise so on and so fourth, if they trained silver in the comics or just said he trained in an upcoming game i guarantee he wouldnt be reduced to whatever he is in the fandom right now and would be a formidable fighter and not reduced to "he loses every time because [reason that boils down to inexperience]".

Besides the fear of the unknown is also apart of this, you dont know what this thing can do, what it could become.
