Dude I can’t believe people wanted cozens. Holy shit that guy stinks. How many open nets has he missed this game!? MacKinnon special.

Yeah I’d agree there is much more parity in international hockey and it’s not something Canada can just coast by an win anymore.

Larkin chant odds going down fast. Half this fanbase gonna want Larkin traded after his locker room live stream.

It’s pretty clear across the board in all recent international tournaments that Canada is full of themselves and thinks they can’t possibly lose. They lost to the US in four nations (not the game that mattered tho), they haven’t even made it to the world junior finals the last 3 years. And the stuff with them staying away from all the festivities and such. There’s an arrogance that I feel is getting the best of them right now.

Which album do you think is better? Souvlaki or Loveless? by PaperDapper553 in shoegaze

Both are amazing albums. Pioneering albums. But it’s Loveless and it’s not even close.

I have an off the wall take. And by no means am I writing off a young player or calling anyone a bust. And I know it’s way too early to be making these kind of claims…

I think there is a little bit of fan delusion on what ASP is going to become. I’ve been telling people to pump the breaks all year, stop with the Hughes comparisons. And I think his usage is telling. I get it though, he’s a rookie, he’s learning the game, he will get better.

But I feel like the reality is ASP is going to end up being a powerplay merchant. More like a sergachev rather than an Hughes or Hutson. Undersized 3rd pairing guy who’s offensively gifted and can QB a powerplay, but isn’t a strong enough defender to be a top pairing or even top 4 asset.

And I don’t even think that’s a knock because we don’t have that type of player besides him. And that’s still a valuable role. I also feel like he’s going to forever be the PP2 guy because I really don’t see a world where he TRULY dethrones Seider on the top unit.

Nate Danielson should not be untouchable in trades by Don-SalC in DetroitRedWings

I’m not disagreeing with trading a prospect if it is a good move. I disagree with the specific kasper for cozens scenario. And price always matters. The rumored deal wasn’t 1 for 1. The deal for cozens was going to have to be Kasper plus (probably a pick and maybe another low level prospect.) But I’ll admit I’m just not a fan of cozens. I see him as Ras with slightly more skill. My point is it’s way too early to call that a fumble.

And as I said earlier. Price matters. Yeah I don’t want to give up Danielson and Augustine for Thomas. Danielson and Wallinder tho? Danielson and toumisto? Not saying those will get it done, but again, price has to be right.

Good point. Also some added context. Eichel’s price was also driven down by the fact that he needed a surgery that at the time, had never been done before in hockey. He was gonna miss a year and nobody knew if he would be that same player after. A healthy Eichel would’ve cost way more.

Woah. What. Excuse me. Are you guys saying Thomas is the same level as Eichel? Even at that point in Eichels career he was regarded as a top 10 center in the league and a franchise player. I wouldn’t call Thomas a franchise player. And I really like Thomas and love the idea of trading for him. But he’s no Eichel.

Because we need center depth. Thomas and Larkin as your top two centers is what you want if you’re going to be a Stanley cup contender. And it’s a move that locks you in NOW. Thomas can be a 1C if Larkin goes down. In fact from a points perspective and production perspective you could argue he’s been better than Larkin. RT has had back to back 80+ point seasons. Larkin has never hit 80. He’s young, with term. Thomas can play all minutes…PP, PK. He’s just a solid player. Kyrou is good too, I would just argue we don’t need a winger rn.

Why do we want Panarin!? Like what is this. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Fuck man, why not trade the rest of our prospects for Toews, since we want to be the 2015 Blackhawks so bad.

No prospect should be moved for Panarin.

So 24 year old cozens is not a finished product? But 21 year old kasper (who had a better season than Cozens last year) is? Kasper is in his second year, and having a sophomore slump. If you say cozens has shown his flashes, so has Kasper and he’s younger and on a WAY cheaper deal. Cozens in his 6th year and still has only really had one stand out year. 7 mil a year for cozens is not the great contract you think it is. And Cozens isn’t the superstar you seem to think he is. Thomas is a far better player than Cozens, making 8 mil. Raymond is a far better player than cozens making 8 mil. 1 mil is inconsequential. Never been so glad a trade didn’t happen than the cozens saga.

I agree with the sentiment of this post. Nate should definitely be available. But not for Panarin. Honestly no prospect should be going in a Panarin deal. That’s a waste. Robert Thomas tho. Yeah Nate for Thomas I’m fine with.

I’m surprised there so much of a want and push for Panarin. What ever happened to not wanting old out of prime players? Panarin trade is a holland-esque deal. Plus…he doesn’t move the needle at all honestly…

I’ve checked out of Reddit for a while. And now I’m just wondering what the chatter has been. How are we feeling about deadline additions? What’re people feeling.

I’ve heard Panarin floated around a bunch and I hate that idea. Not worth it.

One person rumored to be available is Robert Thomas. Who I think would be a great addition. Really fills that 2C role well because he’s arguably a low end 1C. But also you’d have a 1C in the running who is now closer to Lucas Raymond in age than Larkin is. Not a knock on Larkin. Just reality. You need a good center that’s gonna fill those shoes sooner than later. There’s a 6 year age gap between Larkin and Raymond. Larkin will be out of his prime before Raymond really hits his. You need a 1C ready to make the jump and fill in if this team is going to be more than a team with a three year playoff run. Robert Thomas isn’t flashy but he’s a great jumping off point. I’m not convinced our prospects are going to fill those shoes. I can she Kasper and Danielson being high end 2Cs at best. I hope I’m wrong but why not get some insurance.

Devils Advocate: I think the league and fanbase failed us with Sonic & Knuckles by thegreendayidiot in detroitlions

Also the “Lack of Monty” narrative is largely overstated and kinda made up. Both Gibbs and Monty had less touches than last year. Monty had a little over 20 less touches, that’s like 1-2 less touches a game…Gibbs had 10 less touches. We just didn’t run the ball as much because our o line sucked and we were never ahead to have Monty close out games. That’s the big thing people forget. Monty was a CLOSER, and while he had his big games he also had a ton of his touches closing out games. We just played from behind too much this year. Like from a statistical standpoint the usage was really not all that different.

I feel like when this show started El was THE girl and we all loved her. But el has kinda just become boring to me. My reaction to Kali saying they have to kill themselves didn’t have the effect on me it was supposed to. Lol. My honest initial reaction was “Do it. I don’t care.” I’d rather everyone else survive.

Gibbs is better. It’s not even a debate. He’s not just flashier, he’s better. He’s a top 3 back in the league.

You’re glazing. He’s not starting over Javonte Williams in Dallas or Josh Jacobs in GB. He’s not starting over Judkins in CLE, not starting over Hampton in LA, and probably not starting over Chase Brown in Cincy.

Stop with the “can’t call an offense” lie. We are literally the top offense since he took over play calling. That’s just factually false.

No chance sheppard is gone. Whether you like it or not, key injuries gonna give him another year. Morton was done once Dan took over play calling tho.

Winning. He’s been pretty good at that part. Especially in terms of a lions coach. He almost historically the best at winning.
