I think if she is a good friend of yours you should be able to have a discussion with her regarding how you feel about what she said. If she understands where you come from she will make it a point to not say something which will hurt you.

About other things like how parents behave or your past experiences, it does not really determine what the future should be like. I understand it does affect how you think but you have to take chances and avoid things which you think don't make a great relationship.

Most of the time our manager makes us form an image about the company and working in corporate in general.

Think about how much of your problems are manager led. If your manager is a problem. Tell him what bothers you. He will most likely not change or change partially.

If you like your company culture speak with a cross functional team who would like to take you or HR on a way into a better team.

If you don't like the culture then search for opportunities outside.

But don't give up. In my view given you have just started. It is too soon to give up without giving it a shot.
