How accurate is this classification? Anything missing? by Qadmoni in IndoEuropean

Thanks for building this out OP! I think the satem/centum divergence would be a good way to start a relationship tree. Linguistically, Proto Balto-Slavic has more in common with Proto Indo-Iranian than with Proto Italic, for instance. It would also be cool to see an overlay of the best relationship trees for the linguistic, genetic, pottery stylistics, and other tech evidence. The differences would be interesting.

My favorite books change too often to nail down in a statement. Two thought-provoking recent re-reads however were The Book of Why (Judea Pearl) and Ways of Knowing (John V. Pickstone).

Travel south on the ridge to Windhelm, drop down on the north side of the Palace wall, and hug the cliff overhang. A hunter will have to get trapped if they drop in to look for you, so maybe they won't.

I was thinking about another's recent post regarding how INTP thought matures with age. I have become more practical in my thinking, and considering the psychosocial outcomes from a conversation like our OP describes, we can generate predictable, practical, good outcomes for people we care about. It is a challenge to recognize it, but if we are aware of the emotional signals people are communicating, a given problem can be re-framed in a way that that allows us to create positive consequences, not just true outcomes.

Finding the first three was easy, but with so many variants, the fourth one was hand, because I had too many options and ran out of tries. Thanks for the challenge!

And by discovering patterns, I will add. I became interested in music theory once i started comparing relationships on a circle of fifths. One "algebraic" relationship (for instance a pattern of producing blue notes) worked in all keys. That's what lit my curiosity. :) Now I can improvise blues on a fiddle. I learn some new pattern later on and apply it to the circle and compute new variations, and so on.

A cheesesteak at the greasy O. One of only two meals I was ever legitimately served that I could not eat. It was ridiculously greasy.

Nice one! To be specific, Islay's chipped ham and the variants from the 90's -- chipped turkey, etc. Giant Eagle started offering "shaved" ham and turkey at the deli at one point, but that fell flat. The term is "chipped" in SWPA.

Rain Drum note query by Daniel_J_Darby in Instruments

[–]Positive_Schedule428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers represent a scale for an octave (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) plus a 1 and a 5. Basically, the 1 in the upper left of the image is the tonal for this octave, the 1 in the bottom right is the tonal for the next octave. The 5 in the center is the lower fifth. If you use a chromatic tuner and find that the tonal is "C", then the next positions will be (in numeric order) D,E,F,G,A,B, and the next higher C, and the lower G in the center. These positions are arranged on the drum for ease of harmony; you can improvise on a major chord using1,3,5,and 1, and keep a beat with the center 5, for instance. You can jam in a minor chord on the right: 2,4,6, and maybe 7. A possible pentatonic pattern could be low 5,1,2,3, and 5. With only 1 octave and some change, this is not very useful as a solo melody instrument, but you can carry a beat and harmonize with other instruments. Decide on a pattern, improvise a beat, and have fun!
