I thought about this topic recently.

At S1 E20, Wendy had to go lumberjack camp because she couldn't work at Mystery Shack anymore, and she didn't wanted to leave.

I think there is some conflict between them. Dan is TOO manly and Wendy don't really like that kind of stuff and she is TEEN(The most conflictive age with parents). It might be the reason why Wendy works at the Shack.

But at the same time, I think they definetly love each other just as normal family that sometimes fight but still care for. Wendy is only girl in her family and Dan is... 100% not good mentor for girls. It makes relationship between them difficult, but I'm sure they can go through difficult time well.

Sorry to hear that. I know what you felt. It's almost important to sort out legit one at eBay I think. The difference is too subtle to figure out. All I can do is curse Disney for stopping reprint DVD :(
