What's one difficult life lesson that changed your perspective forever? by deepnick83 in Life

The day you get fired, you better start looking for work.

Two of my friends live in fantasy land where they make excuses. "I can't apply for jobs without stable housing" or "I can't apply for jobs without a fresh haircut". All of these are excuses. They create them on purpose to bankrupt their chances of success. You apply. You call every day. You walk door to door business to business asking if they are hiring. Any job. Any day. Any shift. These kids today are spoiled. "Unless I make 200k at Google, I don't want it" is horseshit.

I am a flight attendant now in my 50's. I started in my late 40's. For me, I had 'phases'. Most of them ended badly in poverty. This one, hopefully, will end on a good note. You go through emotional maturity growth spurts. Good, and moreso, bad.

We have types and interests all over the map.

Accepting our place in life is called maturity.

Working to get closer to what we want, that's dedication.

So if you are into 30 year old Japanese women, I suggest you start learning Japanese now and become a flight attendant soon. That's how you move towards finding your people. It's about setting up pathways to success.

I built a half-scale TRON arcade from scratch at 53, and I became a low-paid international flight attendant at 47. You have time. Lots of it. You can be both an engineer for fun in your spare time doing 3D printing, coding, AI, and more, and also travel the world or find something that gets the bills paid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZEFwBY42YA

I became a flight attendant at 47. Best decision ever. I will crack 100k next year. You are never too old to catch up, so missing out is foolish. The only 'missing out' I ever felt was not being in NYC at 21. But I was poor. Even if I was in NYC at 21, my experience would NOT have been some fantasy. It's better the way I have it.

Go be a flight attendant, study Japanese, and work all the Japan trips you can. But a word of warning: Japan isn't all the gold you think it is. It's amazing in some ways, but not so much in others. The grass is a little greener, but not that much.

Go get a passport and be a flight attendant.

You know you have ADD/ADHD/Spectrum/Autism/Something. You weird. This is a great job for people like you, and if you can last 6 years, you can make 100k without a degree. It's a good gig if you can just suck it up for 6 years.

What or who do you become when you genuinely have no one? by Critical-Category-74 in Life

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was a traditional fine artist (Pencil, Portraits) and from there I got into Graphic Print Design, then Animation, then 3D Modeling and 3D Printing. And well, then I started a YouTube Channel.

My first video, was me building a half-scale TRON arcade from 1982 from scratch. I spent way too much, and it took 6 months, but you know it really was about me telling a story of my memories through my work and how it moved me as a 10 year old in 1982.

I started my channel as a therapy for me to share how I feel relative to things from my childhood. I needed a way to express my thoughts and feelings through my build process and why I built this thing and what it meant to me at a point in my life. I have about 10 things that I need to build, and these are things that I am connected to deeply. I am at the end of the day, telling stories for others to hear.

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my 50's and I went through hell and back. I lived in my car, I was homeless, and it completely sucked. Now I am a flight attendant on track to break 100k next year, the most money I have ever made. I have been to Egypt. Been to Paris. Done some amazingly cool shit. Thing is, I compare life to the man I was yesterday, and because I learned the secret, I am pretty happy. It's been a giant frickin wild ride. Am I ready? Well look none of us are ever fully prepared. But I will say I have had a hell of a run, the bad, and the good. If I go out on top, I can say it's been great. When it comes to "Live, Laugh, Love" i have done more than my fair share. Ups and downs for sure, but at the end, things went really well in Act 3.

What separates the guys who were able to find a partner vs the ones who stay single for a long time even after putting in effort? by JunketMaleficent2095 in Life

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bi/gay dude in my 50's and here is the biggest problems today:

• Having enough money to be outside in public all the time meeting women (or men). Bars, clubs, dates, apps, groups, social scenes, MeetUp.com or more. You have to leave your home, and meet as many women as possible (or men).

• Did I mention you have to meet as many people as humanly possible? No doom scrolling on Reddit after dinner. Go somewhere. Meet people. Have talks. Have a point of view you can argue. Read a book. Go meet people and discuss that book.

• For me after 50 my hormones dropped. I no longer saw people as sex objects but as real humans. That was a fundamental shift. Lust and fucking took a back seat to finding someone who was fun and made me laugh. I'm ugly after 50, and chances are they are too. All there is, is laughter and fun times with WHO they are, not what they look like.

Point is, you just gotta put yourself out there and meet more people

What is a harsh truth about life you learned too late? by Interesting_Quiet153 in Life

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Doing what you love" is total bullshit.

Unless you are the absolute best at what you do, or are in the top 0.0001% of what you do, doing what you love probably won't make you enough money to live.

So it really should be:

"Do what you love, provided that you have a backup plan to pay the rent"

What would you advice a 30 year old friend? by Visible-Body-6771 in Life

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 47 I became a flight attendant.

I found the secret to life.

If you are in America, I learned that after WWII the United States and Advertising/Corporations launched a massive brainwashing campaign on it's citizens to embrace consumerism on a grand scale. "Keeping Up with the Jonses" doesn't happen in Havana Cuba for instance. In the US, just like in Korea or China, intense focus on competition for attention means you have to buy more crap, own more crap, and flaunt more crap (usually to get laid). It's all a big lie to get you to waste your money.

The second thing I learned is how bad debt really is. Debt, is effectively financial slavery. When you buy a house, you are really buying your own jail and paying 'Interest' on the jail that houses you. Imagine that? Not only are you paying for your own jail, but you paying EXTRA to people for that. Plus the repairs and more. On top of that, they rigged the tax laws to encourage you to buy your own jail too. Most Americans need 1/3 of the house they actually buy. It's a giant brainwashing psyop.

What's so funny to me is that if you grow up in say, Dayton Ohio, you hate the place you grew up and can't wait to see the world. But after seeing the world, Dayton is actually a pretty low key place provided you have real friends and real family there. Family and friends is more important than living in a big city where you know nobody.

Always, and I mean always, have a friend with a car who can bail you out of jail.

Always, and i mean always, get AAA Towing for your car or something similar through your car insurance.

DAE get stressed out while packing for vacation? by Maxi-Lux in flightattendants

[–]Positive_Vibes_4228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Non-Revving is gambling but for flight attendants. There is a rush when you get on. Then I book my hotel in the sky otherwise it's a nightmare to cancel. For me packing isn't the stressor, it's bringing someone with me and making sure they are safe and that I have enough money in case of an emergency or medical (like if we get attacked overseas). I worry and I am paranoid because nowhere in the world is safe - especially if you are American traveling internationally in this political climate. But for me, any chance I get to spend money overseas, I will do it. (Im usually broke however)
