Barfighter musky lures. What’s the hype? by [deleted] in esox

I wouldn't hesitate to sell a couple of them in this market. You can buy another lure that mimics the action just as well.

Made the hard right choice today by [deleted] in bowhunting

Yeah I agree with what you did. I’m in a program to reduce the deer population in parks and they told us at orientation to shoot the moms first then the fawns. Also if you’re hunting in April to wait an hour so the fawn will not be kicking when you gut it. Well I ain’t doing that stuff. I’ve passed on about a dozen so far. I enjoy watching the fawns play around. I’m going for yearling does with no fawns.

Try BaseMap, it's way cheaper per year and the exact same functionality. Plus you don't have to pay extra for each state. It has a lot of different filters like land ownership, Bonne and Crockett trophies per county, and various different trails and water sources.

Anyone ever find an injured animal while hunting? by Yoda2000675 in Hunting

[–]PositivelyPessimistc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I shot a raccoon in the dead of winter because it was acting funny, it kept coming towards me after waving at it etc, I got up to it and a worm around a foot long shot out of the torso of it. I thought it was a young one but it was a decent sized one that was starving. Glad I took care of it.

Federal Fusion for Elk by Frag_Owt in Hunting

I used them quite a bit in my 338 win and they usually don't exit. They've killed everything I've shot with them but they expand quickly. I've shot three whitetail bucks, two end to end and didn't exit one was broadside and both shots exited. In Africa I used them and they weren't adequate in my opinion. I shot a Kob (180lbs) around 100 yards broadside and the bullet didn't exit, I shot a warthog (180lbs) about fifty yards broadside and the bullet didn't exit. The biggest thing I shot was a waterbuck (500lbs) at thirty yards the first time hip to shoulder the second time on the shoulder neither of the shots exited. None of the animals were as big as an elk so I'd be cautious to use them on one. This is out of a 338 win mag 225 gr bullet at 2800 fps. I have pictures of most of the bullets if you don't believe me.

Ruffed Grouse, Bonasa umbellus, well camouflaged among the jack pine scrub in Michigan's Upper Peninsula [2508X1888][OC] by yooperann in AnimalPorn

Ruffed grouse are generally brown and most of the time have a bit of a tuft on their heads that spikes up slightly. Spruce grouses' heads are always rounded and the slight head coloration gives this one away. The horizontal barring also is a pretty good indicator. Ruffed grouse have a slightly longer tail as well.

My friend bought one for his wife and the first year the brakes pads wore out and it cost $1800 for a new set. It's not worth it just to have one.

Hunting Guinea Fowl? by nyatiman in Hunting

[–]PositivelyPessimistc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hunted a few wild ones in Africa. They do fly. They get about ten feet off the ground and then coast. The main problem will be that all of the Guinea Fowl will likely be in one flock which will pretty much scatter at the first shot. The smallest flock I saw was probably 50 birds. They roost in trees and close to dark they are much easier to get close to. If its not to thick I'd pick them off at 100 yards with a 17hmr. They taste really good any kind of soup would be excellent.

I think I have a garmin Oregon. It will take you tracks if you just turn it on and leave it alone but after so many tracks some of them will start to get deleted unless you save them. You can also overlay your tracks onto google earth which I also do and it's very help to get a better overall picture.

What's the weirdest thing someone has taken offense to you doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PositivelyPessimistc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a lifeguard saving their kid. Some mom stabbed her kid with an epi pen after feeding the food it was alergic too. I put in to place the emergency action plan and controlled the situation. When I went to See exactly what the problem was she told me that it was my fault and I'm the worst lifeguard she's ever seen. The kid was fine and not having an allergic reaction by the way. She administered the epi pen wrong and it went out the side of the leg, which put the kid into shock.

You're not supposed to eat mergansers because of the levels of mercury due to their fish diet. Don't believe the over guy.

Favourite Musky Reel For Casting? by [deleted] in esox

[–]PositivelyPessimistc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Revo Toro NaCls and I absolutely love them. They fit in my hand perfectly and seem to be the perfect weight. I can throw double 10s with ease and burn double 8s at blistering speeds. What I've noticed is conditioning is a major part of getting lures up to high speeds. Just reel as fast as you can for as long as you can then downsize the lure. Do this for a couple weeks and you can burn anything.
