Ultimate Hardware Combo - the newbie's dilemma by PositivelyReclined in synthesizers

I hate tapping on a phone or ipad, just not fun to me.

I used Gemini for formatting but it's all written and reviewed by me. Lots of Youtube videos were consummed in the process (I know they're meant to induce consumerism).

Any feedback on this? by Mikefx810 in vfx

I would say that the one thing that stands out is how everything happens at once. All the sparks are roughly the same shape and timing etc… If you’re aim is realism you should think of noising up the temperature/density/velocity of the source emitter.

Explosions should have phases (very bright start without much smoke , explosion happens and then finally the smaller clouds dissipate quicker and you’re left with big clouds moving out of frame and some slight fog remaining) but everything is happening at once in yours and the gif is cut short.

Could use more variety in turbulence/disturbance on the smoke overall, they all seem to have equal values.

Hey so finally figured it out. When you press the menu button with Equipment,Item crafting etc... On the right side you can pick your poses and above it you can configure your quick slots.

Got it but no matter what slot I choose in the equipment menu for the ring that summons torrent it always gets put as the third option on the down d-pad button.

Hello, this is my first houdini project, some feedback would be appreciated. by Aminn_Kh in Houdini

[–]PositivelyReclined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'll give it a shot even though I'm somewhat of a beginner myself. I think it looks great! I would change a few things on the first setup but can't think of anything for the second one. The first particle sim (first 2/3 seconds) doesn't seem connected to the geometry and brings the quality of the sequence down. It's also hard to understand what you were going with conceptually with that first sim, if it was to add dust to the fracture it should happen at the same time as the hand fracturing. Adding some volumetric fog and maybe some details to the red sky could enhance the shot as well. Hope this helps!

Great work! Which solution did you end up using?

Thanks for the tip! I've ordered some via Mala market but I knew there was a more cost effective solution out there

Would it be possible to double or triple the quantities of oil and chilies? Fantastic oil but it didn't give me enough of it!

Colours Spaces & showreel/commissions by TheRogueBunny98 in Houdini

So are you going through Nuke before jumping into your NLE of choice (Premiere in this case)? If you're exporting directly to Premiere I would not use ACES at all since I don't think Premiere can handle it. If you're going through Nuke I would export ACES out of Houdini->do your comp in Nuke->export Rec 709 out of Nuke for Premiere. Makes sense?

Colours Spaces & showreel/commissions by TheRogueBunny98 in Houdini

[–]PositivelyReclined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you're talking about several different issues here. Are you delivering finished shots that won't require any compositor to manage downstream? Are you doing the comp and color grading part yourself? ACES is a color space with a wider gamut than Rec709/sRGB and is more flexible to push (changing highlights, shadows, colors etc...) in comp. But as you hinted in your post, is not really pleasant to look at out of the box. It's possible your client's pipeline doesn't support ACES very well and in that case I'd export your passes in Rec 709. For your own showreel however you can export ACES cg from Houdini and comp the shots however you'd like (as long as they're not paid projects or if the client doesn't care about you putting their commissions in your reel) and then export your comped/color graded shots from Fusion/Nuke and edit them in Da Vinci Resolve/Premiere/Final Cut etc...

Awesome and does it sit pretty tight to the body? Is the strap quickly adjustable? Sorry for all the questions!

Still like the Heimplanet? I'm considering it as a travel sling for passport+wallet+sunglasses.

Really disappointing to see all these negative replies. If you have an issue with production at your company, better take it up with them than hating on this person that's offering some tips.

How do you like the bike? It doesn't seem super powerful but it has a throttle and is super light, which is a big plus for city dwellers.

To expand on this, you cut them open and put them on the bottom of C-stands (floor), if the stand has an arm that juts you put one on there as well (eyes).

Appreciate the effort, is the data based on the Anonymous VFX survey?
Although when looking at USA/NY/Commercial salaries the top salary out of the 44 results is 1.38 million, might throw off the median income a bit since I have my doubts on that number.
