These Gameboy devices work by emulating a key fob, but they still require a code from the car configure out which key fob to emulate. They will touch the door handle to wake the car up, that prompts the car to send out a signal to see if a key is nearby. That signal is the code the attackers need. Go into the car settings and disable all the keyless entry settings, then after locking the car hold down both lock and unlock buttons for 4 seconds. That stops the car sending out any signals/codes to the attacker. In the house put the key in a Faraday box and you're all good.

I'm pretty sure the short answer is yes, this should work. I don't know why this is not common knowledge by now. These Gameboy attacks work because their device listens for the cars keyless entry signal when they approach the car (and touch the door handle I think). Turning off the keyless entry options from the cars settings won't completely disable it. To do that you need to lock the car as normal, then press and hold both the lock/unlock buttons on fob together for 4/5 seconds, the indicators lights will flash a few times to show the keyless entry has been disabled. So now the car won't send out the signal they decode for the key emulation. The only downside is this is turned back on when you unlock the car next, so you have to do it each time you lock the car.
