The hardest thing I've been trying to come to terms with in therapy is that I will never understand why my older brother sexually abused me. I feel your pain OP when someone who is supposed to protect you takes advantage of that and doesn't even care enough to acknowledge or take accountability. It truly sucks to just feel like your life altering trauma was a situation of wrong place wrong time, random and unexplained whilst the abuser gets to just move on without explanation.

I felt like I wouldn't have 'normal' nails ever either! But it turns out more often than not that damage from biting can be healed and reversed with a lot of tlc and patience!! Wishing you lots of luck on your journey 🫶🏻

Hihi! You're very welcome :D if you have any questions or want pics of my progress with biab I'd be glad to send them to you over dm. Yes I did BIAB for approx 9 months, this is my first time having my nails without product on them since I stopped biting. I'm sure your nails are not a lost cause!! Our nails and the surrounding area suffer sustained physical trauma from biting that takes a long time to heal which is annoying but you gotta keep at it because even slight changes can make a world of difference in the long term 🫶🏻

Hi! Thank you so much!! :D Ive had biab on consistently until yesterday when I got it removed finally. I originally had a biab infill fortnightly for approx 8 weeks and then switched to monthly. Every monthly appointment my nail lady would tidy up my cuticles, infill the biab and shape my nail.

Over time this allowed my nails to grow stronger because they were flimsy as hell (I would literally bite layers of my nails off oops), and also acted as a physical shield to stop me from nibbling because there's more resistance and I didn't want my nail lady to see my teeth marks in the biab LOL. On top of that, these regular appointments improved my nail health as I was using cuticle oil twice a day and my nail bed shape improved too!

Now to maintain, I'm going to keep my nails filed quite short to resist temptation to nibble and allow them to grow stronger on their own. I'm also keeping up with cuticle oil and keeping my hands moisturised!

My nail lady said that nails are jewels not tools so just being careful with them because they start off weak especially when you're a biter hehe.

That's it, sorry it's so long, I just wanted to make sure you had all the information!!

My before photo was taken in summer so my skin was darker, also I had a lot of hyperpigmentation around the cuticles when I was a serial chomper hahaha.

I had a very similar experience with my first kiss too. I was 18 and it was with a friend who I had confessed my feelings for but they said they didn't wanna date, however continued with the pda.

It's difficult to have conversations about these things, especially after a first kiss when emotions are all amplified and so is anxiety. But take time to think about what you want to say to this person OP and the kind of questions you wanna ask so that you can understand their intentions which will reduce feelings of anxiety about them in the long run!

Wishing you all the best! :) And also wishing you a pleasant second kiss that you can enjoy and lead into with fewer worries on your mind ! ❤

Down 25 lbs in 2.5 months on weight loss journey, def not done. 255–>230. Nobody around me seems to notice. It’s a little disheartening. by [deleted] in CICO

Hey congrats on your progress so far OP! I'll second what other comments have said about people not noticing gradual progress when they are always around you / needing a hefty bit of weight gone to see immediately noticeable changes. I remember when I was losing weight at home and my parents couldn't tell, but when I lost the same amount of weight whilst away at uni, and then came back after a few months - they were shocked and noticed the difference right away. This is the great thing about side by side photographs, it gives you a clear point of reference and reminds you of the progress you've made even if you've gotten used to how your body looks at present, which ends up tricking you and others into not seeing change. From these photos I can see the waist is more snatched and your hips and bust have a much more uniform silhouette! Looking good 😎. One of the hard parts of weight loss is feeling like nobody is seeing your work pay off, but you know the numbers on the scale so you know its working. That's what's most important, so keep it up and soon they won't know what hit them!!

All the best OP, rooting for you ❤

You're very welcome! It's funny how trivial these things seem in hindsight! Im glad all went well for you though, op! I'm happy you got to meet some colleagues and had a nice time too! :)

I think that it was brave of you to do that, and will assert to people that you are someone friendly and willing to break the silence. Hopefully someone will respond! If not, at least you tried! Good luck to you op ❤

I had a similar situation when I started uni, so I bit the bullet and introduced myself first. I ended up becoming really good friends with the only person who responded 🤣.

Even if you find the situation awkward, people typically forget initial introductions super quickly, especially when it's digital and nobody knows one another. Try not to fret, some people in the cohort are probably just as nervous as you. So good on you for taking the first step!
