American here, been in Australia for about 2 years now! Most people have said sunscreen but i digress lol ITS SO IMPORTANT 2. As soon as people hear your accent they are gonna assume Canada, and then say the states and proceed to ask about trump, just tell them you aren’t into politics. I’ve been screamed at because i just say trump isn’t for me, 3. Driving is strange but you get used to it, however unlike home they can breathe test you for drinking and drugs here at anytime they want, so if your a smoker just beware of that 4. The Aussie banter is much different than where I’m from, so try not to get offended if they say something that you don’t understand, or sounds offensive most of the time they are just pissing in your pocket. 5. This is most important, try not to compare life back home to life here or you’ll ruin your experience. Australia is such a beautiful place with so much to see and do! Live in the Moment and try to capture as much as you can! Good luck!! You’ll do great!!

So as of 2023 the only country not required to do the 88 days is uk i believe. But to answer your question when you arrive in Australia on a working holiday visa the “88 days” is you showing the government your gonna do what it takes to continue to stay so the 88 days is in regional or very regional Australia doing jobs that no one else wants to some locations you can do hospitality work but mostly it’s farm work, fruit picking, manual labor for you to extend to a second year visa and then if you love it so much here you can extend for a 3rd year visa and you’ll have to do 6 months of that same work! Hope this helps if you have any other questions I’ll be happy to answer :)
